On the 26th of November the Faculty of International Relations and the Foreign Languages department organized the International Round Table “Issues in Language and Intercultural Communication” devoted to the Day of the First President of RK. Among the issues discussed were: theory and practice of intercultural communication, sociocultural inter-language correspondences and the importance of this problem in optimization of intercultural communication, improving methods of teaching foreign languages, as well as the results of the experience of experts of higher education institutions in this field.
The high guests took part in the event – HE Italian Ambassador in Kazakhstan Mr Stefano Ravagnan, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Spain in Kazakhstan Mr Pedro Louis Sosa Torres, Attache of the Embassy of Germany Ms Elisabeth Richter, and also representatives of foreign and Kazakhstani educational organizations: expert of Goethe Institute on International program “Partners schools” Tanya Fichtner, lecturer of German Academic Service Exchange S. Ingelkoffer, English teacher from India Sucheta Chacroborty, Head of the English language department of Kazakh Law University Anar Ibrayeva.
A welcoming speech was delivered by the Dean of FIR Baubek Somzhurek, who stressed that in the light of the language policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan issues of intercultural communication have special meaning for us. At present, the mixing of peoples, languages and cultures is at a record level, and more than ever a problem of education of tolerance for other cultures, creating interest and respect for them is emerging. That's what caused everyone's attention to the issues of intercultural and international communication.
The presentations were delivered by the teachers of FIR – c.h.s. A. Azmukhanova, c.ph.s. Edyta Denst-Garcia.
At the end of the roundtable the participants expressed the need for such an event to open new opportunities, types and forms of communication, the main condition for the effectiveness of which is a mutual understanding, dialogue of cultures, tolerance and respect for the culture of communication partners.
