At the end of this academic year, the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics (Head of the Department – E.A. Zhuravleva) in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Languages and Business Communication (Head of the Department – L.G. Yussupova) of Ural State Mining University held the X International scientific and practical conference "Text in the Russian Language and Literature Teaching System". The conference has become a good tradition of the department for 10 years and a recognizable scientific event for the philologists from different countries of the world.
The purpose of the conference is to strengthen scientific communication collaboration between educational institutions for the study and teaching the Russian language in Kazakhstan, Russia and in the world; introduction to the latest developments in the field of linguistics and methodology, as well as to generalize the accumulated scientific and methodological experience. The problem field of the conference comprised the following areas:
• Text as an object of linguistic research
• Text and its functioning in a multicultural space
• Scientific and literary text in a foreign language audience
•Text in the Russian language teaching system and new information technologies in language teaching.
These aspects are related to the priority scientific research direction of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics.
The conference was held in offline and online format. 90 participants from 9 countries represented different educational institutions of Kazakhstan (Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Pavlodar, Aktobe) and countries of the near and far abroad: Russia (Moscow, Tula, Surgut, Yelets, Magnitogorsk, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Rostov-on-Don, Yakutsk), Slovakia (Bratislava), Uzbekistan (Ferghana), Belarus (Minsk), USA (Arizona), Azerbaijan (Baku), Switzerland (Lugano), Iraq (Diyaly). The Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics maintains close scientific relationship with many scientists, carries out joint projects and conducts numerous events. Foreign scientists from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, RUDN University and Ferghana State University took part offline in the conference.
At the Plenary session, the Board Member – Vice-Rector for Science, Commercialization and Internationalization Zh.D. Kurmangalieva, the Dean of the Faculty of Philology A.B. Beisenbai, the Head of the Department E.A. Zhuravleva and the Head of the Department of Foreign Languages and Business Communication of Ural State Mining University L.G. Yussupova addressed their greetings to the conference participants. The foreign participants also greeted the conference members. Plenary reports of scientists from Russia, the USA, Slovakia and Uzbekistan were heard. The reports touched upon the issues of teaching Russian as a foreign language in the different regions of the world (E. Borisova, M. Bujnák, Slovakia; L. Brener, USA; Z.M. Sobirova, Uzbekistan; T.A. Sirotkina, Russia), preparation of double-degree programs (S.A. Moskvichyova, RUDN, Russia), problems of linguodidactics and meta-subject training (N.A. Krasovskaya, TSPU; A.I. Edlichko, Moscow State University, Russia), intertextuality in modern media discourse and literary text (O.V. Shatalova, Russia; T.V. Krivoshchapova, Kazakhstan). All the reports interested the audience: a lot of questions were asked and the report contexts were lively discussed.
Then the work continued in sections. All the participants were able to present their scientific research, presentations, and answer questions.
At the final plenary session, the results of the conference were summed up, the moderators of the sections made their reports.
There were also round tables discussions for foreign guests with the academic staff of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics, the meetings with the Dean of the Faculty of Philology. A.B. Beisenbai and E.A. Zhuravleva discussed the specific issues of joint projects on preparation of a collective monograph and two-degree programs with A.I. Edlichko (Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia) and Z.M. Sobirova (Ferghana State University, Uzbekistan)
Excursions to the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan were organized for foreign guests. The cultural program also included a visit to the Museum of Writing, the L.N. Gumilyov Cabinet-Museum, the nominal offices of the Faculty of Philology (named after Abai, Pushkin Living Room, Center for Polish Language and Culture), etc.
The collection of the conference participants’ scientific articles will be indexed in the RSCI.
All the participants commented on the high level of the scientific event.
