ENU scientists have created a prototype of ChatGPT in Kazakh
Scientists of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU have developed a domestic analogue of the chat bot Chat GPS in Kazakh.
The artificial intelligence system in the state language was developed by ENU scientists in 5 months. The Kazakh prototype of the chatbot Chat GT can analyze large amounts of data, answer questions, generate texts, and also knows all the morphological and syntactic rules of the Kazakh language.
“We have developed the first large LLM language model in Kazakh. The system is able to understand any context in Kazakh and give answers according to its knowledge using the architecture of neural networks. Our ChatGPT prototype understands the rules of the Kazakh language, has memorized all the sequences among letters, syllables, words, sentences and is able to generate an answer that is syntactically and grammatically correct and satisfies the user’s request,” Alibek Barlybayev, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of the L.N .Gumilyov ENU shared.
The developers conducted successful experiments on the generation of Kazakh literary works, normative documentation and scientific materials by the system. Now they are planning to propose the use of an artificial intelligence model in the educational process. The chatbot knowledge can be used to clarify the necessary information.
“Let’s say, while preparing for exams, students did not understand some information in the test, for example, an equation in mathematics or a term in chemistry. They want to clarify for themselves, but the teacher is not around. They can ask a question, and the system will answer very quickly and briefly. Then they can ask leading questions and so on.
In addition, this technology can be used for elementary students who often have to take general education courses,” Alibek Barlybayev, PhD said.
Today, scientists plan to further develop the project, strengthening its technical and server capacities.
