World metrology day was celebrated at ENU

Every year on May 20, the world celebrates World Metrology Day. This has become a tradition for the Eurasian National University. On May 22, an event dedicated to World Metrology Day was held in the hall of the Academic Council of ENU. The organizers of the round table are the Department of Standardization, Certification and Metrology of the TEF ENU and the RSE “Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization and Metrology” of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the MTI RK.

The motto of this World Metrology Day - "We measure today for a sustainable development tomorrow" - focuses on the fact that our actions must take into account long-term consequences and strike a balance between economic growth and development.

This event was organized for 1st year students studying in the educational programs "Standardization and Certification" and "Metrology".

The event was attended by representatives of the RSE "National Center of Accreditation", RSE "KazStandard", the faculty of the department, and graduates of the department.

The Dean of the Faculty of Transport and Energy, Umirzhan Kokaev, addressed those present with a welcoming speech. Deputy General Director of the RSE “Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization and Metrology” Abilda Aidar congratulated teachers and students on their professional holiday.

Representatives of the leadership of the RSE "National Accreditation Center" came to congratulate the students and teachers of the department. Deputy General Director of the RSE “National Accreditation Center” Karasaev Erzhan gave an introductory lecture on accreditation and presented a presentation on the activities of the RSE “NCA”. He dwelt in detail on current issues of accreditation and metrology and answered questions from students.

The head of the management system and analytical work department of the Central Customs Laboratory of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Isabai Erlan, spoke about the work of the laboratory, its tasks, and the regulatory framework. He elaborated on the CTL instrument base.

The head of the DCTRM for the city of Astana, Aimenov Rustem, in his report spoke about the activities of the Department in terms of state control, emphasized the importance of monitoring by future specialists in identifying gray certificates, in order to master conformity assessment procedures. He answered students' questions about product quality and safety.

The head of the laboratory of the RSE “Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization and Metrology” Bekkozhin Ruslan spoke in detail about the legislative framework, areas of activity and prospects for the development of the laboratory, standards, metrological certification of measuring instruments.

The Head of the Department of Research and Training, Aimagambetova Raushan, spoke about the main scientific directions of scientific research of the RSE “Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization and Metrology”. Her speech reflected the issues of development of the department’s branch, practice and internship of ENU students.

Graduates of the department came to congratulate the teaching staff and students: Ayupov Farid, head of the conformity assessment body of Firm Zhanabet LLP (graduate of the department in 2004), Syzdyk Gulzhaukhar Temirbekkyzy, chief expert of the metrology department of the RSE at the PVC "Republican Veterinary Laboratory" (graduate department 2023). They spoke about their work, the activities of conformity assessment bodies, and shared information about current trends and skills. They also shared their opinions on how studying at the department influenced their career growth and professional development.

 Graduates of bachelor's and master's degrees from other years from different parts of our country made video congratulations.

The program prepared by the department included a number of competitions, where the judging was carried out by representatives of DKTRM, NCA, KazStandard and other organizations. Students of the department presented creative videos, thematic reports and speeches.

At the intra-departmental stage, the seven best essays on the topic “Metrology and Sustainable Development” were selected, representing a variety of approaches and ideas in the field of metrology. Their authors gave enthusiastic presentations at the event, demonstrating the depth of their understanding of this science. Students brought fresh views and perspectives, enriching discussions and inspiring their fellow students to new research and accomplishments.

Also at the event, a video competition was held on the topic “Metrology and Sustainable Development”. Participants presented creative videos highlighting the importance of metrology in the context of sustainable development. Their work illustrated the role of metrology in promoting environmental, economic and social sustainability.

Based on the results of the competitions, the winners were awarded diplomas, letters of gratitude and textbooks from the RSE “KazStandard”.
