Educational practice of students of the 2nd year of the educational program 6B05210 – Hydrology

From May 19 to 25, 2025, second-year students of the 6B05210 – Hydrology educational program completed their field training at the “Zolotoy Fazan” recreation area, located in the picturesque village of Koyandy, Akmola region. All students took part in the practice, supervised by instructors Yerzhanova N.K. and Alaguzhayeva M.A.
The main goal of the training was to apply theoretical knowledge in a natural setting, master hydrological observation techniques, and develop skills in data collection and analysis.
Students conducted meteorological observations, measured water transparency using a Secchi disk, and based on the collected data, prepared thematic materials, including a depth map of the artificial pond and a profile cross-section of its bottom. In addition, a visual topographic survey of the area was carried out, followed by the creation of schematic terrain plans.
As part of the program, students also went on an educational excursion to the Koyandy Reservoir, where they learned about the characteristics of the water body, its ecological condition, and its importance to the region.
Upon completion of the fieldwork, each team of students will prepare a report containing collected data, maps, and analytical conclusions, which will be presented for evaluation by the department’s commission.
Field practice is an essential part of training future hydrologists. It helps students consolidate knowledge, develop research thinking, and acquire vital professional and practical skills.
