Abstract (English): ABSTRACT of the dissertation work of Oralbekova Kuralai Oralbekkyzy on the topic: "Formation of a student's linguistic personality (based on Abai’s Works)" has been prepared for the award of the degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD) in the education program 8D01717 – "Kazakh language and literature" Objective of the Study: The objective of the dissertation work is to propose a speech development methodology based on leveled creative tasks that contribute to the formation of the student's linguistic personality through teaching Abai's creative work. Research Tasks: – Studying the theory of linguistic personality to determine the main features of the students' language development levels. – Studying the impact of a multilingual educational environment on the formation of the student's linguistic personality. – Scientifically substantiating the structure of a multilingual student's linguistic personality. – Determining the national image of the speaking personality in the works of Abai. – Analyzing the significance of Abai's didactic ideas in the formation of a linguistic personality. – Conducting an analysis of the issue of teaching Abai's creative works in the national education system. – Determining the linguodidactic foundations of creating leveled tasks based on Abai's creative work. – Identifying, based on practical experience, the ways to form the student's linguistic personality through Abai's poems. – Proving the effectiveness of the methodology for teaching the understanding and application of Abai's language. Research Methods: The study employed a comprehensive methodological framework that included the analysis of the language of Abai’s works alongside relevant theoretical concepts and scholarly conclusions. In addition, the content of textbooks was systematically evaluated to assess their alignment with the research objectives. The study also involved the modeling of the linguistic personality, enabling a structured representation of its key characteristics. Furthermore, educational materials were synthesized to support the development of a coherent instructional approach. The research design was complemented by the observation of teaching practices, which provided empirical insights into the implementation and effectiveness of the proposed methodologies. Main Provisions (Proven scientific hypotheses and other conclusions that constitute new knowledge): The formation of an individual’s personal identity is largely determined by the level of their language proficiency. The process of following “the words of the wise with love,” engaging with the works of prominent speakers, reflecting upon them, deeply comprehending their meaning, and applying them in practice contributes to the expansion of students’ linguistic consciousness and the enrichment of their vocabulary. For students oriented toward scientific inquiry and guided by rational thinking, the exemplary personality of Abai serves as an important model. An individual who is capable of discerning profound meaning and selectively perceiving each word internalizes such qualities as ambition, diligence, deep reflection, contentment, and compassion, thereby developing into an integrated linguistic personality. An effective means of protecting the emerging linguistic personality from the negative influence of the social environment and various subcultures is reliance on national spiritual and cultural foundations. In this regard, particular importance is attached to enriching students’ linguistic knowledge through the works of Abai. The interpretation of the concepts of “language” (“тіл”) and “word” (“сөз”) in Abai’s works, as well as the characteristics of an eloquent and wise speaker, define new requirements for the formation of students’ linguistic personality. The principle articulated by the poet—maintaining a balance between reason, willpower, and heart—should serve as a fundamental guideline for every student striving to master language as an art. Within the framework of the “Kazakh Language and Literature” discipline, the teaching of Abai’s works contributes to the development of students’ speech skills and the formation of a linguistic personality only when it is accompanied by a comprehensive and systematic analysis of his language, rather than being limited to a purely content-based approach. The effectiveness of this process is further enhanced through the use of supplementary materials, the inclusion of musical compositions, engagement with translated texts, the application of modern technologies, and the implementation of both written and oral creative tasks based on Abai’s works. Description of the Main Results of the Study: Within the framework of the study, scientific works related to the theory of linguistic personality were systematized and classified into two principal directions: the study of the already formed linguistic personality and the study of the process of its formation. On this basis, the formation of a student’s linguistic personality within a multilingual education system was, for the first time, comprehensively examined from a linguodidactic perspective. A structural and content-based model of the student’s linguistic personality was developed, grounded in the conceptual framework of the “five noble deeds” (ambition, labor, deep thought, contentment, and mercy) reflected in Abai’s works. The proposed model incorporates content, emotional, motivational, and behavioral components, which are described in their interrelation with the verbal-semantic, cognitive-thesaurus, and pragmatic-motivational levels of the linguistic personality. Furthermore, the study provides a comprehensive analysis of the factors, conditions, and mechanisms influencing the formation of a student’s linguistic personality within the multilingual educational space of Kazakhstan, examined in both diachronic and synchronic dimensions. In this context, the content-specific characteristics of the linguistic personality of Generation Alpha, as well as the phenomenon of the virtual linguistic personality, were identified and defined. As a result of the research, key theoretical characteristics enabling the construction of a positive model of a language-using, speaking, and listening personality based on Abai’s heritage were determined. In addition, didactic conclusions serving as a foundation for the formation of a linguistic personality through the interpretation of Abai’s works were systematized. A comparative analysis of existing research on the methodology of teaching Abai’s works revealed a недостаточность studies focused on the linguistic analysis of artistic texts and the mastery of authorial word usage. In the final stage of the research, a methodological system aimed at the development of language skills through Abai’s creative heritage was proposed. This system includes a set of tasks of varying levels of complexity (basic, intermediate, and advanced), designed to ensure the gradual development of cognitive, linguistic, and creative competencies of the linguistic personality. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology was empirically validated through the results of experimental teaching practice. Scientific Novelty and Significance of the Obtained Results: The scientific novelty of the research is primarily manifested in the systematization of the theory of linguistic personality and the specification of its key research directions. In particular, the problem of linguistic personality is differentiated into two main areas: the study of the formed linguistic personality and the study of the process of its formation. On this basis, the process of forming a linguistic personality within the context of multilingual education is, for the first time, comprehensively examined from a linguodidactic perspective, thereby enabling its consideration within a new scientific paradigm in domestic linguistics. An important aspect of the study’s novelty is the development of an original model of the student’s linguistic personality grounded in the conceptual framework of the “five noble deeds” presented in Abai’s works. The proposed model systematically establishes the interrelation between the structural levels of the linguistic personality—verbal-semantic, cognitive-thesaurus, and pragmatic-motivational—and the content, emotional, motivational, and behavioral components of personal development. Furthermore, the research enhances its scientific originality through a comprehensive analysis of the factors, conditions, and mechanisms influencing the formation of the student’s linguistic personality in a multilingual educational environment, examined in both diachronic and synchronic dimensions. In this context, the study also introduces and defines the content characteristics of the linguistic personality of Generation Alpha, as well as the concept of the virtual linguistic personality. The systematization of theoretical characteristics that enable the construction of a positive model of a language-using, speaking, and listening personality based on Abai’s heritage, along with the clarification of didactic principles serving as a foundation for the formation of a linguistic personality, constitutes one of the significant outcomes of the research. In addition, the study identifies a lack of sufficient scholarly attention to the teaching of the language of artistic texts and the mastery of authorial word usage, thereby highlighting existing scientific gaps in this field. The practical significance of the research lies in the applicability of the proposed methodological system within the educational process. This system, aimed at developing language skills through Abai’s works, includes a set of tasks designed for the integrated development of students’ cognitive, linguistic, and creative competencies, and its effectiveness has been confirmed through experimental teaching practice. The results obtained can be implemented in general secondary education institutions, higher education settings, as well as in the further improvement of teaching methodologies in language and literature disciplines. Alignment with the Development Directions of Science or State Programs: The research fully aligns with the priority directions of the educational and language policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The content of the dissertation is developed in accordance with the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Education” and relevant state programs in the field of education and language development. The results of the study are oriented toward the formation of students’ functional literacy, communicative competence, and linguistic personality within the context of modernized education. Furthermore, the proposed methodology, based on the works of Abai, contributes to the enhancement of the content of the “Kazakh Language and Literature” and “Abai Studies” disciplines, as well as to the effective development of the linguistic personality in a multilingual educational environment.
