On February 28, 2024, the Board of Directors of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University approved the Sustainable Development Policy of L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University NJSC (Protocol No. 04/24). The document was developed in line with modern ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles and reflects the university’s commitment to building a sustainable future.
The policy is based on the following principles:
- Environmental responsibility
• Social effectiveness
• Economic efficiency
The university is committed to minimizing its negative environmental impact, using natural resources efficiently, implementing eco-friendly, energy- and water-saving technologies, maintaining high social standards, and fostering conditions for sustainable economic growth.
Key Implementation Tools:
- Action plan for the implementation of the Company's Sustainable Development Policy — outlines specific steps toward achieving ESG goals;
- Stakeholder Map “L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University” NJSC — identifies key groups whose interests are considered in the sustainable development process;
Role of the Sustainable Development Center
The Sustainable Development Center plays a key coordinating role in this process. Its main objective is to integrate sustainable development principles and ESG standards into the university's activities.
Main areas of the Center's work:
- Preparation of reports and analytics on sustainable development;
• Development of initiatives to enhance educational processes and social-economic sustainability;
• Organization of foresight sessions to forecast future trends;
• Monitoring implementation of the Sustainable Development Action Plan;
• Ensuring internal communication and information dissemination on ESG-related matters.
