Abstract (English): Relevance of the research topic. Chekhov's drama has played a huge turning point in the history of world culture. Born at the turn of the century, it developed into such an innovative artistic system that defined the ways of the future development of theatrical art around the world. However, the question of the influence of Chekhov's work on Kazakh drama is complex, it requires a deep and subtle approach, a comprehensive study. Turning to the historically established interrelations of Kazakh literature with other national literatures, we will not only better study the literary processes taking place in the world, but also identify the national identity of Kazakh drama. To study the Russian-Kazakh literary relations, the influence of Chekhov's traditions on the work of a Kazakh playwright, it is necessary to assimilate all the accumulated experience of literary comparative studies. Foreign and domestic literary critics have achieved great results in comparative literary studies: new materials and facts have been found, new dialogues between various creative personalities have been revealed. In Kazakhstan, a thorough and methodical study of the problems of comparative studies dates back to the middle of the last century, when the influence of classics of world literature on the work of a particular Kazakh writer was studied. To date, literary comparative studies is searching for new forms of artistic interaction, taking into account the nature of further literary connections. The forms of literary interaction are complex, so the study of the influence process should not be limited to a superficial diagnosis. Moreover, elements of influence are often hidden in the writer's work by deeper internal imitations, ways of alteration. It is also important to take into account the phenomena caused by the world literary process within the framework of national literature. Any work enters into diverse extra-textual connections with the surrounding reality, due to this, common features arise not only between individual works, but also between literary trends, trends, and epochs. International literary ties determine the role of the writer in the history of world literature. The study of continuity and artistic traditions makes it possible to identify the influence of foreign artistic experience on the creative laboratory of the writer. Speaking about Kazakh writers, it is important to mention international literary ties. These connections were receptive in nature and reflected the understanding of the Kazakh classics of the world literary heritage. The connections of Kazakh literature with other national literatures were both synchronous (influence from contemporaries) and diachronic (traditions of representatives of previous eras). The connections, as a rule, were not accidental, but natural, socially conditioned. They were determined by the peculiarities of national, social and literary development. The presence of Chekhov's traditions in Kazakh drama is not unreasonable. This connection was dictated by the needs of national literature and professional theater. In a very short period of time, Kazakh drama had to make an accelerated transition from various forms and genres of folklore art to the emergence and formation of dramatic art. This qualitative leap occurred due to creative interaction with the cultures of other peoples, assimilation of the experience of world drama. The issue is further complicated by the fact that in the Kazakh literary science, some works and genres of drama are still insufficiently studied. At this point in time, Kazakh drama requires careful consideration. In other words, one of the most pressing problems of modern Kazakh literary criticism is the scientific analysis of artistic works of Kazakh drama, which have reached certain heights in the development of thematic and genre diversity. Kazakh drama in the periods of its origin, formation and development, first of all, has always relied on folklore traditions. However, in search of new artistic and expressive means and methods of expressing psychologism, she adopted the experience of Russian and European drama. A significant role in raising the professional level of national drama was played by the study of masterpieces of world classics. Chekhov's plays have been repeatedly embodied on the stage of Russian theaters. The increased interest in the plays of A.P. Chekhov, the feelings of transitivity, the frontiers of the epoch, characteristic of the dramatic works of the Russian classic and resonated in many works, allows us to actualize the problem of interaction of the drama of Kazakh authors with the Chekhov tradition at a new stage of study. The effectiveness of identifying some of the most important features of the poetics of Kazakh drama through artistic retrospection - an appeal to the traditions of A.P. Chekhov - determines the relevance of this dissertation research. The object of the study is the Kazakh drama. The main focus of the research was those dramatic works where the influence of Chekhov's traditions was particularly evident. The subject of the study is a complex process of penetration of A.P. Chekhov's work into Kazakh literature, the significance of this phenomenon, but, above all, the influence of Chekhov's traditions on the work of Kazakh playwrights. The purpose of the work is to study the way of artistic development of the Chekhov tradition in the plays of Kazakh playwrights. The achievement of the stated goal is ensured by solving a number of tasks: • identify the innovation and artistic features of A.P. Chekhov's dramaturgy; • to reveal the essence, problems of the origin and formation of Kazakh drama; • to present the principles of systematization and classification of aesthetic categories of tragedy, comedy, drama (aspects of studying the specifics of the specifics of genres) in Kazakh drama; • describe the main issues and tasks solved by Russian comparative literature; • to study the peculiarities of the functioning of Chekhov's works in a foreign environment and the reception of his plays by Kazakhstani critics; • to consider the peculiarity of the embodiment of Chekhov's traditions in the works of Kazakh playwrights of the XX century (M. Auezov, B. Mailina, G. Musirepov, D. Isabekov). As the main works that served as the basis for analyzing the traditions of Chekhov's dramaturgy, in addition to his plays, we took into account the works of both domestic and foreign literary critics. The methodological basis was the fundamental monographic research of academician Rymgali Nurgali on the history of Kazakh theater and drama: «The Nature of tragedy», «The Poetics of Kazakh drama», «The Poetics of drama», «The Tree of Renewal». Scientific works devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the language of Chekhov's plays, Doctor of Philology, Professor V.P. Khodus, were also studied: «The plays of A.P. Chekhov: language and elements of analysis», «Metapoetics of the dramatic text of A.P. Chekhov», «Impressionism of the dramatic text of A.P. Chekhov». To successfully complete the research tasks within the framework of the developed methodology, the following research methods are used: the method of comparative analysis, the historical-functional method, the comparative-comparative method, the semantic-stylistic method. The novelty of the work is connected with the undertaken consideration of Chekhov's legacy in the context of Kazakh culture, and the perception of Chekhov's drama by Kazakh literature and criticism is noted. Some aspects of the state of modern comparative literature in Kazakhstan were also considered, and some problems of translation theory were indicated. Thus, despite the appearance of a large number of scientific works devoted to the work of A.P. Chekhov, as well as the intensive development of Czech studies, the problem of interaction and connections of different national literatures remains open in modern literary criticism, the question of the influence of Chekhov's traditions on Kazakh drama is poorly studied, which determines the scientific novelty of the dissertation. The theoretical significance of the study follows from the analysis of the plays of Kazakh playwrights, who organically absorbed the traditions of Chekhov's work. Such an analysis of Kazakh drama demonstrates the closest historical and literary connections of works and the assimilation of Chekhov's traditions at various levels, which may be relevant and fruitful when analyzing the work of other writers. The results of the work can be taken into account in the process of further studying the interaction of national literatures and in developing universal principles for analyzing variations of Chekhov's plays, which allow us to explore Chekhov's traditions in the work of Kazakh playwrights. The study of the writer's work in the aspect of the problems posed (Chekhov and Kazakh culture) contributes to the most in-depth reading of his works of art. The practical significance of the dissertation. The materials of the work can be used in university courses, special courses and seminars on Kazakh literature and comparative studies, as well as used in the preparation of textbooks on Kazakh theater studies and theater criticism. The results obtained can be used in reading courses on the theory and history of literature, elective courses on the history of the development of Kazakh drama and the poetics of Chekhov's work. The main provisions of the dissertation submitted for defense: 1. For a complete analysis of the influence of Chekhov's traditions on Kazakh drama, it is necessary, first of all, to turn to literary comparative studies (in other words, to comparative literary studies). With the help of her methods, we can study the influence of A.P. Chekhov's work on Kazakh literature, as well as better learn and adequately assess the state of Kazakh drama. 2. Mukhtar Auezov played a huge role in the origin and formation of the theatrical traditions of the Kazakh people, as well as in the organization of the first Kazakh theater. In addition to numerous scientific and critical articles on theater studies, he made a significant contribution to the development of Kazakh drama with his plays. 3. M.O. Auezov's comedy «In the Apple Orchard» is a play referring to the famous comedy «The Cherry Orchard». Chekhov's allusions and reminiscences can be traced already in the title of the work. The symbolism of the garden in the plays of M.O. Auezov and A.P. Chekhov determines the structure of the dramatic text. This topos has a special aesthetic role in their dramaturgy. 4. The comedic works of B. Mailin tend to the vaudeville tradition of A.P. Chekhov. The absence of couplets and dances, the presence of narrative elements, life realism, the confrontation not of personalities, but of characters, subtle psychological remarks, satire on the surrounding negative phenomena of reality - all this suggests that Beimbet Mailin used Chekhov's traditions not only in his stories, but also in drama. Also, for both playwrights, humor is built through a clash of emotions and moods. In other words, these are comedies not of situations, but of characters. 5. The dramaturgy of G. Musirepov and A.P. Chekhov is very closely connected with music. With the help of music, playwrights voiced images and situations, and built compositions of their plays. Like Chekhov, Gabit Musirepov used a rich sound range. Music is not just superimposed on the background, it touches on different facets of emotions, creates a unique atmosphere and enhances psychologism. Thus, Musirepov and Chekhov's musical motifs not only carry an auxiliary function, but are also an integral and equal part of the dramatic structure. 6. D. Isabekov's dramaturgy contains the dominant features of Chekhov's «new drama» (the presence of narrative elements in the plays, psychologism, subtext and an open ending). At the same time, inheriting the Chekhov traditions, D. Isabekov preserved his identity and opened up new possibilities of artistic comprehension of reality in his work. Approbation of the work. The main provisions and results of the dissertation research were reported at scientific and methodological seminars of the Faculty of Philology, a meeting of the Department of Russian Philology of the L.N. Gumilev ENU and at international conferences. The main provisions were also reflected in the journals recommended by the Committee for Control in the Field of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and in the scientific publication included in the Scopus database. The structure of the dissertation work. The dissertation consists of an introduction, four sections, a conclusion, and a list of references.
