Abstract (English): Dissertation work of Mukatova Rabiga Askarovna «Innovative directions of development of ethno-tourism in Kazakhstan (on the example of Ulytau region)», presented for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the educational program "8D11102 - Tourist service: government foresight". Relevance of research theme. Kazakhstan is a multinational country, which preserve national culture, traditions, and customs by passing them from generation to generation. Thanks to the wealth and diversity of natural, cultural, and historical resources, Kazakhstan has a great opportunity to attract international tourists and create an additional source of income. In this regard, the country faces the task of developing the tourism industry and infrastructure, as well as ethno-tourism, which can attract both domestic and foreign tourists. Tourism is one of the most efficient industries, generating a significant portion of the GDP of many countries, benefiting the global economy, and creating new jobs. Currently, the development of ethno-tourism requires certain innovative changes, since modern tourists are becoming bored and uninterested in visiting popular and developed tourist centers, relaxing on the beach, participating in shopping tours, this type of recreation has become commonplace for tourists, moreover, after the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for domestic tours with national specifics and an ethnic component is increasing. Currently, the development of ethno-tourism is one of the most relevant issues, because this type of tourism can affect on the increase in domestic and international tourist flows both abroad and in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
