A competition is being announced to fill the vacant postdoctoral position with a monthly scholarship

From June 20 to July 20, 2024, L.N. Gumilyov ENU announces a competition for a vacant postdoctoral position with a monthly scholarship.

The project implementation period is 2024-2026.

The purpose of the postdoctoral program is to attract talented young scientists to the University on a competitive basis to conduct promising scientific research on scientific topics and projects aimed at integrating education and science with production.

The competition is held among researchers and performers of scientific projects of the University. Participation of third-party applicants is allowed if:

- they are scientists in the field of a scientific project;

- the direction of their scientific research corresponds to the theme of the University's scientific project;

- express their consent to the terms of the competition;

- in case of recognition as the winner, they undertake to conclude an agreement and fulfill their obligations.

Basic requirements for a postdoctoral position:

- foreign citizens under the age of 40;

- the degree of Candidate of Sciences, Doctor of Sciences or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD);

- fluency in English (IELTS certificate of at least 6.0 points or TOEFL 500 for CIS citizens);

- the presence of at least 3 publications in international peer-reviewed publications included in the bibliometric database of Web of Science (first and second quartiles) or Scopus (percentile at least 75) over the past 3 years;

- experience of participation in the processes of scientific activity in the implementation of scientific programs of grant, program-targeted and other financing.

Persons who were previously winners of this program are not allowed to participate in the competition.

The winner of the competition:

- concludes a service agreement with the University or an employment contract for the performance of certain works within the framework of a scientific project for a period of at least 3 (three) years. The extension of the contract for up to 5 (five) years is allowed if there is a positive decision of the Academic Council of the University on the recommendation of the Scientific and Technical Council of the University;

- receives a scholarship in the amount of no more than 500,000 tenge per month, including taxes and other payments to the budget;

-receives free and unlimited access to the available laboratory equipment of the University, world information resources and library collections.

Required documents for participation in the competition:

The applicant must submit the following documents to the Department of Science and Certification of Scientific Personnel:

- an application in the prescribed form (Appendices 1 and 2 of the Regulations);

- an application for admission to the postdoctoral program signed by the applicant, indicating a specific research team/project with an indication of the research topic;

- extended professional resume - scientific passport (Appendix 3 of the Regulations);

- a motivation letter (no more than 1000 characters), revealing the specific skills needed to participate in the project, work experience;

- calendar plan of research activities and publications (Appendix 4 of the Regulations);

- prints of the most significant and major publications in journals indexed by Web of Science, Scopus over the past 5 years;

- a copy of the diploma of the degree of Candidate of Sciences, Doctor of Sciences or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Documents in English must be accompanied by a certified translation in the state or Russian language;

- IELTS or TOEFL certificate;

- two recommendations from research scientists in the relevant field, certified by the signatures and seal of the employer organization (if available).

Applications from candidates are accepted until July 20, 2024, at 6 p.m. in scanned form by e-mail: postdoc@enu.kz (in the subject line indicate «For the postdoctoral competition»).

The absence of a complete set of documents may be the basis for excluding an applicant from the competition. Applications received after the deadline for accepting applications are not considered.
