
The regional subject Olympiad has started at ENU

The opening ceremony of the regional subject Olympiad took place within the walls of the Eurasian National University.

Since 2018, over the past 5 years, Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilev traditionally, in close cooperation with schools in Astana and the Akmola region, conducts a regional subject Olympiad. The Olympiad program includes 15 main school disciplines, which are core subjects when determining educational programs.
The subject Olympiad, being one of the types of extracurricular activities, is a way to improve the quality of education by developing one’s own knowledge and skills in a competitive environment, increasing the spirit of competition. The goal of the regional subject Olympiad is to identify talented schoolchildren and gifted children to provide support in preparing for university entrance exams.
During the period from January 5 to 9, those wishing to take part in the Olympiad completed online registration. 1500 applications were accepted in 15 sections.On the first day of the intellectual competition, 600 students from schools in Astana and Akmola region took part in 7 sections.
The opening ceremony began with a welcoming speech from Member of the Management Board – Acting Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Serik Makysh. Serik Bihanovich spoke about the history of the Olympiad, its goals, and also wished success to all participants. Then the director of the department for academic affairs, Bayzhuman Kashkhynbay, gave a parting speech. Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Abilmazhin Adamov spoke about the importance of developing intellectual abilities. Next, the rules for holding the Olympiad were announced by the Head of the Career Guidance Department - Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee, Lazzat Egeubaeva.
The duration of the Olympics will be 5 days, after which the results of the Olympics will be summed up at the closing ceremony on January 16.
