ENU presented a book about the famous Kazakh man of art Abiken Khassenov
The Scientific Library of the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted a round table "Abiken Khassenov and the world of Kazakh kuy", dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of the famous kuyshi, the outstanding Kazakh composer Abiken Khassenov. The event was attended by famous cultural figures of Kazakhstan, scientists, and statesmen.
Within the framework of the round table, the presentation of the book "Abiken" took place, which contains his autobiography, memories of him, his musical works and photographs. The compiler of the book is Nesibeldy Abdrakhmanova.
The statesman and public figure Dussen Kasseinov focused on Abiken Khassenov’s art of composition and method of playing the dombra:
"The pleasure is that on the day of renewal on the eve of Nauryz, we remember our heritage – Abiken Khassenov. Without Abiken, it is impossible to imagine the kui of the great Kazakh steppe and the legacy of Tattimbet. This is a fateful personality who survived the tragic events of the first quarter of the XX century and the 1938s repressions. Thanks to the knowledge of Abiken's heritage, we will study the culture in depth, thanks to the knowledge of his biography, we will learn the true face of those difficult times," the speaker noted.
Professor of the Kazakh National University of Arts Raushan Nurtaza said that culture is driven by 2 types of personality.
"The first are conservative people. They strictly preserve traditions. The second type is innovators who bring something new. Both types are needed. No culture can develop without the two kinds.
Abiken belongs to those who clearly preserved the culture. He considered it his duty to convey everything that came to him, despite the tragic events of his life," the art critic added.
The compiler of the book Nesibeldy Abdrakhmanova told about one of the goals in writing the work:
"If I revive Abiken Khassenov by popularizing his legacy, then I will breathe life into his cousin Makash, kuishi Akmolda, Abdi, Senbek.
This event is designed to popularize Abiken Khassenov’s legacy, a natural feature of the Kazakh art of kui. I would like our generation to explore this issue from the other side, so that we do not lose our cultural code, our nationality," the author said.
Within the framework of the event, Abiken Khassenov’s famous musical works were also performed and an exhibition dedicated to the life and work of the cultural figure was organized.
