Public Reception Office: Anti-Corruption Issues Are Discussed
The head of the Anti-Corruption Compliance Service of ENU Talgat Darbayev held a meeting with 1st and 2nd year students in the Public Reception of the University.
Various questions were received during the reception. So, students of the Faculty of Law were interested in how to decide on a profession, it would be more correct to work in a civil or law enforcement structural unit. On this issue, the Head of the Anti-Corruption Compliance Service explained that each of these areas has its own characteristics. In this regard, upon graduation, future lawyers should be determined based on their inner motives and desires.
Also, a question was received concerning the activities of the service and the events being held. Here, T.Darbayev gave explanations on the activities of the service, information about them is posted on the University’s website in the section “Anti-Corruption Compliance Service”. In addition, the Anti-Corruption Compliance Service carries out activities on an ongoing basis in accordance with the Action Plan for the Formation of an anti-corruption culture and corruption combating, approved by the Board of Directors of the University.
In addition, the students shared with T.Darbayev that the staff of the University Admissions Committee often showed loyalty to applicants who came with their parents and rudeness towards applicants who submitted documents on their own. At the same time, during the acceptance of documents, they were offered to study in Russian instead of Kazakh, or on specialties that are less popular. According to the students, this may also be a reason for corruption.
Talgat Darbayev supported the students and replied that in order to resolve this issue, before the start of the work of the Admissions Committee, work will be carried out with the staff of the University Admissions Committee aimed at ensuring respect for the rights and legitimate interests of citizens in the field of education, established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the basis of openness and transparency of all admission procedures, coordination and implementation of competitive selection of applicants for on a grant and off-budget basis.
