
Scientific seminar "Approaches to automation in the preparation of scientific publication"

On April 4, 2024, within the framework of the Decade of Science, the research teacher of the Department of Chemistry, candidate of chemical sciences Safarov R.Z. conducted an interesting and practical scientific seminar on the topic "Approaches to automation in the preparation of scientific publication". The seminar was devoted to actual methods and tools that help researchers to save time and efforts when writing scientific articles.
The workshop outline covered the following key issues:
- The growth of scientific information: how to cope with data overload and stay productive in research.
- Saving time and effort: tools and techniques to improve article writing and formatting.
- Bibliographic managers: a look at popular tools like Mendeley and Zotero.
- Plugins for convenience: an introduction to Zotero Connector and Mendeley Cite for Word and Google Chrome.
- Formatting a bibliography: complying with styles such as APA, MLA, and others.
- Creating a bibliography: how to properly format a reference list at the end of an article.
- Online editors and editing: using CSL Editor and text editors to create and modify bibliography styles.
- Programming tasks in Zotero: how to optimize data handling in this tool.
- Ethical use of neural networks: understanding ethical considerations when working with machine learning.
- Machine translation tools: the role of Google Translate and DeepL in translating research materials.
- Grammar and spell checking services: an overview of Grammarly, DeepL and LanguageTool.
- Text generation systems: how GPT-3, Gemini and Bing Chat can help with writing.
- Contextual search of publications: using Jenni, Elicit, Consensus, Google Scholar to find information more accurately.
- Analyzing articles: review unriddle.ai, typeset.io, popai.pro for quick analytics.
- Writing a title and abstract: using x.writefull.com to effectively form the main parts of an article.
- Additional resources: mentioning useful links and YouTube channels for additional training and information.
All participants found the workshop very informative and useful, providing clear and practical advice on how to use modern technology in research.
