Decade of Science in the Scientific Library of ENU named after L.N. Gumilyov

From 1 to 11 April 2024 the Department of Scientific Research and IR of the Scientific Library of L.N. Gumilyov ENU held the Decade of Science, timed to the Day of Science, dedicated to K.Satpayev. The programme of the Decade was drawn up with the participation of representatives of the world's leading publishing houses, aggregators of scientific information on the most relevant topics for researchers.

The opening of the Decade began with the welcoming speech of Director Bakhytzhan Orazaliev, who emphasised the need for the Scientific Library to support scientists of the University at all stages of research activity. Employees of the Department of "Scientific Research and Institutional Repository" spoke with the topics "Scientific library as an information and advisory centre for scientists of L.N. Gumilyov ENU."( head of the Department of Scientific Research and IR Ainagul Aituarova), " Tools for the design of bibliography (list of used literature) in research paper" (specialist Asel Akhmetova), " Selection of a journal to publish the results of research activities" (specialist Aizhan Arzhanova). The young doctoral students of L.N. Gumilyov ENU showed great interest in the topics concerning practical recommendations on how to submit a scientific paper to a journal(IEEE certified trainer in Central Asia, Africa, India and the Middle East Ranbir S. Sedhey) and regarding publications in foreign ranking journals, namely, how to avoid predatory journals (Irina Alexandrova,representative of Springer Nature ). Researchers noted the importance of other topics, such as the search for sources indexed in international scientometric platforms for the publication of research results; open access journals of the world's leading academic publishers(regional manager of Informascope company Bakdaulet Erkhanov); the role of subscription electronic resources as tools for the preparation of world-class articles(representative of EBSCO company Irina Serzhan). The speakers clearly showed researchers the possibilities of the platforms to select journals for publication, to obtain the necessary information when preparing an article, the procedure for submitting a monograph, the requirements for scientific publications, their types, publication formats, and much more. The participants of the Decade of Science received comprehensive answers to all their questions.

Also within the framework of the Decade for the chairs of the Faculty of Law, excursions and familiarisation with the possibilities and services of the Scientific Library for researchers were held and the presentation "Digital competence of a scientist: how to increase the H-index of a researcher"(coordinator of the IR Akzhamby Ybyraeva) was presented.

More than 300 researchers who took part in the events noted the content and relevance of the topics of the Decade of Science programme, expressed their gratitude and desire to hold similar meetings.
