Kazakhstani and Japanese scientists are testing in ENU-Lab innovative technologies for developing super asphalt

Scientific developments of ENU scientists on the development of super asphalt are presented in Japan
Scientists of the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University presented their scientific developments on bitumen modification during a visit to research universities in Japan. Director of the ENU Innovation Development Department Assel Jeksembayeva presented to her Japanese colleagues a new nanopowder as a mineral additive to asphalt from basalt waste, a soil stabilizer and green eco-building materials for noise insulation, OSB panels made of 100% straw waste.
During the meeting, the parties agreed to conduct joint research on the adaptation of technology for the use of micro- and nanodispersion additives for asphalt and asphalt polymer materials.
Researchers from ENU, Nihon University and the Nichireki Company have planned joint work on testing the use of measured asphalt concrete with improved durability and strength parameters in the practice of road construction in Kazakhstan.
Professor Iwaki and the director of Ichireki announced their intention to sign an Agreement with ENU on cooperation and testing with ENU-Lab accredited construction and road laboratories. Moreover, ENU has now purchased the latest equipment for non-destructive testing, determination of bitumen composition and a set of test equipment according to Super Pave standards for a full test cycle. Working together with Japanese colleagues on the basis of ENU-lab will allow exchanging experiences to obtain the best quality results using super-asphalt technology.
We should note that this equipment was purchased last year as part of the mega grants of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of RK for the creation of technoparks according to the instructions of the Head of State to support university science.
