Meeting with Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Rakhmetkazhi Iskendirovich Bersimbay

On 15 May 2024, a meeting was held at the school-lyceum No. 48, named after Akhmet Baitursynuly, with Rakhmetkazhi Iskendirovich Bersimbay, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Doctor of Biological Sciences.

 The purpose of the meeting: to convey to the younger generation the works and scientific heritage of the scientist, talented researcher, to make students understand the scientist’s patriotism and special desire for knowledge and science.
The meeting was attended as guests by the head of the Department of General Biology and Genomics, Professor O.Z. Ilderbaev, Professor R.K. Tataeva, Professor Zh.M. Mukataeva, Professor N.L. Shapekova, Associate Professor Zh.M. Bazarbaeva, teachers and scientific workers of the ENU named after. L.N. Gumileva Toksobaeva G.A., Nurmukhambetova G.S., Aripova A.A., Ainagulova G.S.
The meeting was opened by the director of the school-lyceum No. 48, Gani Bakytuly Ametbekov, who delivered an opening address and expressed gratitude to Rakhmetkazhi Iskendirovich Bersimbay. In turn, Academician Rakhmetkazhi Bersimbay presented a concise overview “Genetics as a science and its role in our lives” to a classroom full of schoolchildren. He proceeded to elucidate the circumstances that led him to pursue a career in science. The schoolchildren asked many questions in the field of biology and medicine and engaging in a free-flowing discussion.

 
A 2022 graduate of this school-lyceum, Ryskul Azat, a scholarship holder, currently a 2nd year student at Astana Medical University, delivered a speech in which he offered advice to students on choosing a profession.

 At the end of the meeting, school students who took part in city and regional olympiads in biology and showed the best results: Tolegen Aidana (7th “G” grade), Shahmet Adilbek (8th “A” grade), Serik Zhiger (9th “A” grade), Dariya Kumangali (10 “A” class) and the winner of the scientific project competition “Pro Eco” Saparova Sholpan (10 “D” class) were awarded the annual scholarship of Academician Rakhmetkazhi Bersimbay.

In the second part of the meeting, under the organization of Professor Neli Lukpanovna Shapekova, the “Asyk atu” school club was opened at the school. Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the Federation for Asyk Atu of the city of Astana Kayypbekov Myrzamurat Kholmuratuly, familiarized schoolchildren with the rules of the game and introduced us to our national sport.

The ensemble “Dombyra Dastan”, which included the artistic stars of the school, singer Nurzhanuly Nurkhan and Kazbek Dinmukhamed and Sarsenbaev Mansur, presented their creativity. The meeting concluded with a tree-planting ceremony in the schoolyard, held by the scientists as part of the environmental campaign "Clean Kazakhstan" and "Decades of Kultegin".
