
ENU students have completed an internship at one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Indonesia













Students of six faculties of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, including Architecture and Construction, Information Technology, Physics and Technology, International Relations, Foreign Philology and the Faculty of Natural Sciences have successfully completed an internship at Andalas University, located in the picturesque city of Padang, Indonesia.
This internship was organized thanks to the agreements reached between the universities at the APAIE 2024 conference and Exhibition, which took place in February in Perth, Australia.
A total of 11 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students were selected for the internship and were divided into two groups: the first group interned from July 2 to 12 and the second group interned from July 3 to 17.
Students of the Faculty of Information Technology Laura Orynbai, Ergesh Manas, Svanov Assylzhan and Zharkyn Dannar visited libraries and laboratories of the University of Andalas. They got acquainted with the scientific projects of local senior students of the Department of Computer Engineering, based on the use of Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano and Arduino technologies.
"The internship at the University of Andalas was a great experience for us. The University warmly welcomed us, presented the education system and educational programs at the university," the students shared.
During the trip, students of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering Zhanbolatkyzy Aknur, Aisiyev Armat and Aisiyev Askhat, in addition to acquiring valuable knowledge and experience, had a unique opportunity to get acquainted with local architecture and urban planning. «This internship has contributed to our professional and personal growth. The knowledge and experience we gained from qualified teachers was very valuable to us».
Kusainova Ayim, a student of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, visited the laboratory of Molecular Biology, genetics, and animal physiology, and also visited the Museum of Zoology at the university. The ENU student had the opportunity to attend practical classes of local students on the study of tropical animals, to get acquainted with the outstanding professor «Father of Butterflies», who devoted his whole life to the study of these insects, to visit an organization dedicated to the restoration of the turtle population.
«Participation in practical events allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of environmental protection and the role that such organizations play in preserving biodiversity. This part of the internship left a deep mark and inspired me to continue working in the field of wildlife conservation», Aiym shared.
Anelya Aslyalieva from the Faculty of Foreign Philology shared that participating in this academic internship, meeting and communicating with university teachers and students, attending conferences and seminars greatly contributed to her academic and personal growth.
«It was an honor for me to represent not only my faculty and university, but also my country», Anelya said.
Dilnaz Esbolatova, a graduate student at the Faculty of International Relations, participated in various seminars and master classes on trends in international relations, modern problems of global politics, regionalism in Central and Southeast Asia, and ASEAN. This gave her a new understanding in writing her master's thesis. «My internship at the University of Andalas was an extraordinary journey. Students and teachers of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Politics and the Faculty of International Relations warmly welcomed me, and I was deeply impressed by their friendliness and sincere desire to exchange information and gain knowledge by communicating with each other».
Doctoral student of the Faculty of Physics and Technology Zhuldyz Zhumadilova noted that during the internship there were working meetings, seminars and master classes on the physics of nuclear reactors, peculiarities of neutron-physical calculations of the core of nuclear reactors, on the issues of nanostructuring of the components of solid oxide fuel elements. The basics of using the Monte Carlo calculation code were studied, agreements were reached on research and study of the characteristics of a new electrolyte for for solid oxide fuel cells on the basis of ENU. «The internship program was very interesting and intense. Besides the academic part, we had a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the history, culture and nature of West Sumatra. We had the honor to be guests at an incredibly beautiful wedding ceremony, visited cultural centers, landmarks, museums and mosques of Padang city, went on field trips to the islands, participated in an environmental action to release turtles into the sea, and were invited to a gala dinner organized by the Padang city government. I hope that the internship will be the beginning of fruitful research cooperation between Eurasian National University and Andalas University».
The internship became an important stage in the educational and professional career of ENU students, opening up new horizons for further achievements. Participation in such international programs contributes to the formation of a global worldview among students, which is an important factor in the modern educational process. Thus, ENU students not only returned home with a new baggage of knowledge and impressions, but also laid the foundation for academic cooperation between ENU and the University of Andalas. The plans include joint scientific research, academic exchange, organization of conferences and seminars.
