Scientists of Kazakhstan and Turkey discussed the issues of conducting archaeological research in Yerementau

On July 23-24 this year, a team of archaeologists from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University conducted the first field reconnaissance work in the Yereymentau district of the Akmola region. This was announced during an online meeting of professors from Turkey and Kazakhstan, where they discussed the organizational and technical aspects of conducting archaeological excavations at the burial and memorial monuments in Yereymentau.
During the exploration, ENU scientists concluded that excavations would be carried out in the Akmyrza area, where there may be unique monuments from different historical periods, ranging from the Bronze Age to the Late Middle Ages. The burial ground of the same name contains burials of the Saks and Turks, confirming that people lived here from the Early Iron Age up to the late Middle Ages. Fieldwork will continue in the rural districts of Karagayly and Turgay.
Let us recall that on July 14, 2024, an agreement was signed between ENU and the tour operator Pegas Kazakhstan to carry out research on the topic 'Study of the Cultural Heritage of Yereymentau (Interdisciplinary Studies of Ancient Archaeological Sites of the Yereymentau Region), under the scientific supervision of Professor Lyailyia Mutaliyeva. The project, initiated by the Department of Tourism of L.N. Gumilyov ENU, is sponsored by Pegas Kazakhstan, represented by its General Director, Mr. Anil Aksema.
Conducting a comprehensive study of monuments in the natural landscape of the steppe will enable the use of cultural heritage as an open-air museum, a laboratory for students and specialists, a venue for open lectures, and attractions for national and international tourism.
