
Listeners from the United Arab Emirates studied Russian at ENU




From April 15 to July 31, 2024, the Institute of Continuing Education, together with the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics of the Faculty of Philology, conducted a course "Russian as a foreign language" with listeners from the United Arab Emirates.
This project was implemented within the framework of cooperation between ENU and the office of the military attache of the UAE Embassy in Astana.
Knowledge of foreign languages is of considerable importance in modern society. Today, the skill of communicating in a non–native language is a ticket to a global, interconnected society for any person.
Learning foreign languages helps to expand the boundaries of consciousness, makes us educated. At this point, any restrictions are lifted and we face great prospects for career development, travel becomes more interesting.
In the learning process, listeners develop reading, writing, and immersion skills in active speech practice. The lecture Aidana Yelyubaeva conducted an excursion into the basics of the Russian language, revealed the basic concepts of linguistics and individual sections of grammar.
The course participants are very grateful for the language course, during which they mastered new knowledge. The listener Saeed Ahmed Saeed Rashed Alyammahi emphasizes that "Learning Russian is useful. During the course, we learned a lot of new topics. The course was interesting. The teacher was experienced. Good conditions have been created at the university."
The listener Mubarak Hamad Mohammed Hamad Alameri supplemented the review, noting some of the studied communicative situations: "At ENU University, we learned how to speak in a restaurant, in a store, in a hospital."
Abdulla Humaid Khalifa Humeid Aldhaheri, a listener, stressed that "while studying Russian in Kazakhstan, he learned a lot of new words. He is grateful to JAN for the opportunity to improve the language. Our lecture is very smart, she has her own technique. ENU University is very beautiful."
The listener Ahmed Obaid Mussabeh Obeid Algfeli writes the following: "I came from the Emirates to Kazakhstan to study Russian. I want to thank the lecture for his hard work and attention to each of us, and the university for the excellent learning conditions."
Due to the demand for language courses, cooperation will continue.
