For the first time at ENU, an open online lecture course with sign language interpretation has been launched

Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov has launched the first massive open online course with sign language interpretation on the general education subject «Psychology».
The course «Psychology» has been developed for students of all bachelor's degree programs and for learners with hearing impairments. As part of the course, students will become familiar with key concepts and categories of psychology, such as motivation, emotions and emotional intelligence, willpower, and values in human life. Students will learn about individual-typological features of personality, acquire fundamental communication skills, and be able to interact effectively in society while managing conflict situations.
The author of the online course is Aliya Mambetalina, a candidate of psychological sciences, associate professor, and head of the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Journalism and Social Sciences at ENU.
With the assistance of the Inclusive Support Center at ENU, a sign language interpreter was invited for the course. The interpreter is Hasan Israilov, a specialist from the «Khabar» and «24KZ» agencies.
The technical support for recording the course was provided by the Online Course Development Sector of the Department of Digital Development and Online Learning at Eurasian National University.
The massive open online course with sign language interpretation is available on the Eurasian Online Course Platform.
This innovation is being implemented as part of the Roadmap for the Development of Inclusive Education in Higher and Postgraduate Education Institutions for 2023-2025, as well as the Roadmap for the Development of Inclusive Education at ENU for 2023-2025.
It should be noted that, in order to ensure the accessibility of higher and postgraduate education, a set of measures is being implemented under the Concept for the Development of Higher Education and Science in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023–2029. These measures are aimed at supporting students with special needs.
