
Flowers were laid at the L.N. Gumilyov bust at ENU











In honor of the 112th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding scientist, historian, Turkologist Lev Nikolayevich Gumilyov, whose name ENU bears, flowers were laid at the university at his bust in the Gumilyov atrium. The event was attended by Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek and ENU Rector Yerlan Sydykov, as well as teaching staff and students.
It should be noted that on October 1, 112 years have passed since the birth of the outstanding scientist, historian-ethnologist, doctor of historical and geographical sciences, founder of the passionate theory of ethnogenesis Lev Nikolayevich Gumilyov. In 1996, the Eurasian National University was named after him. In 2002, a L.N. Gumilyov office-museum was founded within the walls of the university.
As ENU Rector Yerlan Sydykov noted, today, along with L.N.Gumilyov Day, for the first time in Kazakhstan, the Day of Higher Education Workers is celebrated.
“Today, October 1, is the birthday of L.N.Gumilyov, an outstanding scientist, Turkologist, historian, whose name our university bears. Also today, for the first time in Kazakhstan, higher education workers are officially celebrating a professional holiday. As you know, two years ago, by the decision of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education was established, which was headed by a young and creative politician, a graduate of our university, Sayasat Nurbek. During this period, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education has done a lot of work aimed at developing higher education, increasing the availability of educational services and supporting young scientists, as well as strengthening the positions of Kazakhstani universities in international rankings,” Yerlan Sydykov said.
Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek congratulated ENU faculty and students on the 112th anniversary of the birth of L.N.Gumilyov and the professional holiday of higher education workers.
“For the first time in Kazakhstan, the government has decided to celebrate a professional holiday - the Day of Higher Education Workers. Higher education is one of the key driving forces contributing to the development of science and education in the country, and your professional qualifications play a special role in shaping a bright future society. This holiday is celebrated in our country for the first time, and on this significant day we express our gratitude to each of you for your invaluable contribution to the development of the educational sphere.
As you know, today great attention is paid to the field of higher education, significant resources are allocated, and great support is provided,” Sayasat Nurbek said.
The head of the Ministry of Science also added that it is planned to open a branch of MGIMO - Moscow State Institute of International Relations at ENU, and the first students of the MGIMO branch will be able to start studying next year.
It should be noted that there are 120 higher educational institutions in Kazakhstan, which employ 37,400 representatives of the teaching staff. Of these, 46.5% have scientific degrees.
