ENU is hosting XXI International Conference "Defects in Dielectric Materials" ICDIM-2024

The opening of the XXI International Conference "Defects in Dielectric Materials" (ICDIM-2024) took place at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. The event brought together more than 80 physicists from 15 countries.
The conference, organized by ENU, is being held in Kazakhstan and Central Asia for the first time.
The event is dedicated to research related to defects in insulators and non-metallic materials. ICDIM 2024 is the 21st conference in a series that began in 1956 in Argonne, USA, with the meeting "Color Centers in Alkali Halide Crystals". The ICDIM and EURODIM conferences alternate every four years, which makes them one of the most famous and long-lasting international forums on science and technology of phenomena related to defects in insulators. Recent ICDIM conferences have been held in South Africa (2000), Latvia (2004), Brazil (2008, 2020), the USA (2012), and France (2016).
The conference was chaired by Alma Dauletbekova, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, ENU Professor, and Anatoly Popov, Doctor of Sciences, Leading Researcher of the Institute of Solid State Physics at the University of Latvia.
The participants gave lectures on fundamental and applied research in the field of defects in insulators and non-metallic materials.
The conference was attended by hundreds of scientists-physicists world-from more than 15 countries, including USA, Russia, China, Japan, Latvia, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Germany, the UK and others.
