Master class “Creating without Borders: Carving and 3D in Contemporary Design Design”

Under the guidance of Elmira Anuarbekkiza Yeraly, senior lecturer of the Department of Design and Engineering Graphics, on October 22, 2nd and 4th year students attended a master class. It was held in American Corner Maker Space, with the support of Astana Hub (@laserply.kz, @space3d.kz). During the master class “Creating without Borders: Carving and 3D in Contemporary Design” students were immersed in the world of modern technologies. Such as: laser cutting and 3D printing, which are now actively used in design and engineering.
On the laser machine for students were demonstrated all the possibilities of the technique. They were able to see how simple and complex products are created. Laser cutting is especially useful for projects that require high precision and accuracy. It opens new horizons for designers. It helps to realize subtle patterns and complex shapes on various materials - wood, acrylic, metal. The demonstration of the 3D printer was no less impressive. Thanks to FDM technology, students saw how to quickly create prototypes. They could test them and make adjustments to the design without the need for long production processes. This capability becomes indispensable in the development of new products and creative solutions in the shortest possible time.
During the master class, students were able to try cutting out a photo frame using laser cutting. Print small parts on a 3D printer. These technologies allow designers and engineers to put their ideas into practice. They can experiment, look for new forms and approaches. At the end of the meeting, participants discussed how integrating these innovative techniques into design projects can fundamentally change the approach to creating products and services. Students were inspired for new creative solutions.
