Scientists of ENU took part in the National (all-Russian) conference with international participation SPbGASU (St. Petersburg)

In the period from October 23 to 25, 2024 in St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (SPbGASU) held a National (All-Russian) Conference with international participation, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Department of Geotechnics SPbGASU.

According to Professor Rashid Mangushev, corresponding member of RAASN, head of the scientific school, director of the Scientific and Production Consulting Center of Geotechnologies of SPbGASU, over the past 20 years the university and the Department of Geotechnics have regularly held such conferences. This year the conference is timed to coincide with the 90th anniversary of the department.

The opening ceremony included Welcoming speech of the President of Kazakhstan Geotechnical Association, Dr. of Technical Sciences, Prof. A.Zh. Zhusupbekov, Professor of “Construction” Department of L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University.

Askar Zhusupbekov, President of the Kazakhstan Geotechnical Association, Honorary Doctor of SPbGASU, alumnus of the department, confirmed that the Department of Geotechnics has always been famous for its outstanding world-class scientists and talented students.

 “Continuing the traditions, the department is developing. Last year the Kazakhstan Geotechnical Association held a large-scale international scientific and technical conference, which was attended by 982 people from 88 countries. And I am proud to note that the most representative and the largest delegation was from your university. SPbGASU demonstrates high scientific achievements and knows how to organize within its walls effective scientific and practical platforms, which includes the current conference”, - concluded Askar Zhusupbekov.

During the welcoming speech, Prof. Zhussupbekov A. Zh. presented the International Geotechnical Medal named after Academician Shmidt Musaevich Aitaliev to Rector of SPbGASU, Dr. Econ. Sciences, Prof. Evgeny Ivanovich Rybnov.

Also, Prof. Zhussupbekov A. Zh. awarded the International Geotechnical Medal named after Academician Toleubai Zhunusovich Zhunusov to Prof. Rashid Abdullovich Mangushev, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Geotechnics, SPbGASU.

In addition, Prof. Zhussupbekov A.Zh. made a report “Evaluation of the bearing capacity of bored piles by the method of static compression and tension” within the international section.

Chairman of the Association of Siberian Geotechnicians Prof. L.V.Nuzhdin presented the Order “For Contribution to the Development of Geotechnics” to Prof. A.Zh.Zhussupbekov.

The conference was attended by specialists from 23 cities and 13 states, including the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia. More than 110 reports were heard. The conference allowed geotechnical specialists to exchange the latest scientific achievements, establish new useful contacts, as well as to get acquainted with historical and recently built unique objects of St. Petersburg.

Traditionally, the conference ended with a technical excursion, during which the participants visited the main sights of St. Petersburg - Lakhta, St. Isaac's Cathedral, and New Holland.
