
PhD student of the “Political Science” has passed scientific internship in Shanghai









During the period from October 13 to November 12, 2024 3rd course PhD student of “Political Science” Batyrbayev K.M. passed scientific internship in Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS). He familiarized himself with the archival materials and library funds of SIIS, JiaoTong, Fudan universities and public library of Shanghai city, which provided access to a wide range of sources in Chinese and English. This allowed for a deeper understanding of the thesis topic and the collection of extensive factual material.
PhD student gave a lecture on Kazakhstan-China relations for SIIS graduate students, he also was a a speaker at the 12th meeting of representatives of CICA think tanks on “Emerging forces in CICA” and participated at the “Beijing Forum” with a report. Active participation in scientific events provided PhD student with a valuable opportunity to test the results of his own research, exchange experience with leading experts in the field of international relations and receive feedback from the scientific community.
PhD student conducted a detailed analysis of research articles by leading Chinese scholars, which allowed him to form a comprehensive view of the current state of research in the field and integrate the knowledge gained into his dissertation work. The comparative analysis of Kazakhstan and China's strategies within the SCO, as well as the study of the mechanisms of interaction between the SCO countries demonstrated the ability to critically analyze and synthesize information.
In addition, the translation of more than 10 scientific articles on the subject of the dissertation work from Chinese into Russian was realized. This significantly increased access to information.
Also, in co-authorship with a foreign scientific adviser a scientific article was prepared on the topic: “The results of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the SCO in 2023-2024”. The material was sent and accepted for consideration by the Kazakhstani scientific journal, which is included in the List of recommended by the Committee of Science of the Ministry of science and higher education of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the major “political science” (Philosophical and social-humanitarian journal “Adam Alemi” of the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of science and higher education of the Republic of Kazakhstan). The preparation of a joint article indicates the high scientific productivity of the internship and the potential for further cooperation.
In general, the internship at SIIS demonstrated high efficiency and allowed PhD student to make significant progress in his dissertation research, strengthen his research competencies and lay the foundation for fruitful international scientific cooperation.
