
To improve the professional competencies of English language students and teachers in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan

At the Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages Department of Graduate School of Education of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, within the framework of the British Council program "Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA) an international project “Designing and implementing responsive interventions to sustain the career progression of current and future teachers of English language in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan: The case studies of PRESETT at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University Kazakhstan, Baishev University Kazakhstan, and Urgench State University Uzbekistan” is being implemented jointly with the University of Lincoln (UK).
The project is funded by the British Council. Partner countries: Great Britain, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The project coordinators are the head of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages Department of Graduate School of Education Zh. Beisembayeva and professor of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages Department of Graduate School of Education B. Kussanova.
The project aims to improve the professional competencies of English language students and teachers in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The project aims to better understand the Pre-service Teacher Training (PRESETT) systems in place at the three universities selected for the survey in order to ensure the development and implementation of flexible measures that will support the career development of both current and future English language teachers.
The project is being implemented from December 2024 to March 2025.
The grant actions cover the area of improving Pre-service Teacher Training (PRESETT) in the higher education sector. Including the redesign and modernization of existing PRESETT programs to bring them in line with international standards and best practices in English language teaching, as well as curriculum revision, updating of teaching materials and integration of innovative teaching methodologies.
The project will create a professional community of educators that will contribute to more effective development of students' language competencies and teaching skills.
