The Eurasian National University hosted a foresight session "Digital Kazakhstan: the Quality of Human Capital - Challenges, Problems, Success Factors".
Opening the foresight session, ENU Rector Yerlan Sydykov noted that the results of today's session are another step towards creating a digital future for Kazakhstan.
"We all understand that human capital is the foundation of the future. The Digital Kazakhstan program is aimed at training specialists who are able to work effectively in the context of digitalization. Interaction between the government, business and universities is very important here.
I want to share the latest news. Yesterday we held a scientific seminar with our Indian colleagues. An important outcome was the agreement on the creation of a Quantum Laboratory with the participation of C-DAC, as well as the installation of the PARAM-BILIM-2 supercomputer based on Kazakhtelecom in Akkol. The training of our specialists will begin next week. These steps are a vivid example of our movement towards a high-tech future.
The Faculty of Information Technology at our university is the largest, with more than four thousand bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students. Our education programs are among the top three in the republic. But we understand that digital technologies are developing rapidly, and it is important for us to constantly update programs based on your recommendations. Artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge areas pose new challenges for us," the Rector noted.
During the event, the Eurasian National University signed memoranda with a number of institutions and organizations in the country.
In particular, ENU signed a memorandum with “Kazpost” JSC, “InfoSoftProm” LLP (1C Kazakhstan), “Platonus” LLP, the National Testing Center of MSHE RK and “Community of Kazakhstani IT Managers” PO.
"We are very pleased to open the Department of Information Systems on the basis of our company. This project will enhance students' knowledge in the field of informatization. The Eurasian National University is of particular importance to us, since the founders of the Platonus system were students of this university. Today, the company employs about 30% of the staff of this department who successfully implement projects. We are waiting for students to study," Aidar Ispusinov, General Director of “Platonus” LLP shared.
Yerzhan Kazanbayev, Managing Director for Network Management, Logistics and Procurement at “Kazpost” JSC, noted that the organization's activities pay special attention to providing modern innovative solutions, concrete steps are being taken in this direction and they are ready to work together in the future.
“We see the human resource potential in our cooperation with the university. Innovative research in logistics is important to us. We are ready to cooperate with you in full. Today, it is very important to have staff who will understand modern logistics. I hope this will not be the first experience that innovative education programs are being implemented and that we will see graduates who will know innovative logistics. We are ready to receive them, we are ready to work with you," the speaker stressed.
Shakhmaran Seilov, Dean of the ENU Faculty of Information Technology, noted the importance of information and quantum technologies.
"The speakers of “The Republican Center for Space Communications” JSC and “Kazakhtelecom” JSC supported the importance of establishing a scientific center for the study of quantum technologies in Akkol town. The importance of developing an industry-specific qualifications framework and professional standards for postal communications for “Kazpost” JSC was also noted. The participants welcomed the upcoming launch of the updated PARAMLIM II supercomputer on March 9 at “Kazakhtelecom” JSC in Akkol. The University was asked to develop a specialized SLL specifically for the needs of a particular company in order to accelerate the development and implementation of innovative technologies," the Dean said.
The foresight session continued under the moderation of Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Ardak Beisenbai.
