SDG Hour: Accounting for the University’s Carbon Footprint

An open discussion on the university's carbon footprint was held at ENU as part of the "SDG Hour" series. During the open discussion, we explored how our university impacts the environment and discussed ways to reduce its carbon footprint. Understanding the issue is the first step, while practical measures and recommendations bring us closer to a sustainable future.
The event was enriched by the participation of an expert in this field, Ruslan Muratov, a lecturer from the Department of Environmental Management and Engineering. He initiated the quantitative assessment of greenhouse gas emissions at ENU in accordance with the ISO 14064-1 standard. We are proud to have such outstanding specialists at ENU!
During the discussion, we:
- analyzed the university’s resource consumption;
- proposed solutions: enhancing energy efficiency, tree planting, waste management, transitioning to eco-friendly materials, and much more;
- developed concrete recommendations to make our university more environmentally responsible.
The event was attended by representatives from the departments of finance, infrastructure development, international cooperation, graduate students, and everyone passionate about environmental change.
This event marked an important step towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthening environmental culture within the university. Together, we are moving towards a more sustainable future!
