ENU’s Faculty of Journalism and Social Sciences now has a new dean

By the order of Rector of The L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University Yerlan Sydykov, Nurzhan Kuantaev is appointed Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Social Sciences. An experienced specialist has been working in the media field for 22 years.

In 1993, Nurzhan Kuantaev graduated with honors from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and began his career as a senior editor and columnist for the Kazakh Radio. Prior to his appointment as Dean of ENU’s Faculty of Journalism and Social Sciences, while simultaneously teaching as a senior lecturer and associate professor at the Faculty of Journalism of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, he was a columnist for “Zhas Alash” republican newspaper, head of the literary office of “Ak Zhol – Kazakhstan”newspaper, a political columnist for “Aikyn”newspaper. Later he headed the media holding company "Shygys Akparat" at KazNU’s Faculty of Journalism and Akimat of the East Kazakhstan region.

Nurzhan Kuantaev defended his candidates’ dissertation in 2000 on the theme “Zhussupbek Aimautov’s Speech Heritage and “Alash Orda Press”.

Candidate of Philology is the author of numerous scientific and popular science works, as well as articles in the Web of Science and Scopus databases.

Novelist, poet, winner of the Daryn State Prize, winner of the Prize of the Youth Union of Kazakhstan, winner of the Smagul Saduakasov Prize of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan.

He is the author of the novel "Karazek", several short stories, and three collections of poetry.

The books "Adyrna", "Kumbir", "Karazek", "Alash Orda Baspasozi Zhane Zhusipbek Aimauytuly", "Kolshatyr" were published.

ENU Rector Yerlan Sydykov thanked the former Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Social Sciences, Kairat Sak, who worked in this position for 14 years. For his many years of work, K.Sak was awarded with a Letter of Thanks.
