On November 29, 2024, a guest lecture by the Ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Kazakhstan Otto Ivan Rona was held at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. The guest lecture was held as part of the "Ambassador's Day" initiated by the Jean Monnet Center for Excellence "EUROSOFT". The event was attended by Dean M.M. Kossybayev, students and teachers of the Faculty of International Relations.
Before the lecture, Professor Zh.M. Medeubayeva introduced the guest. Otto Ivan Rona focused the audience's attention on the main aspects of the modern development of Hungary, bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Hungary, which are distinguished, as the Ambassador emphasized, by a high level of partnership. The students were interested in the historical excursion, the emphasis on common historical roots as a factor in the friendly relations of our countries. Thus, a student of the Department of International Relations Diyas Konrat, describing his impressions of the lecture, noted that, as the Ambassador mentioned, Kazakh-Hungarian relations are undoubtedly greatly influenced by the Turkic roots of the Hungarian people, thanks to which the Hungarians see Kazakhstan as a reliable partner.
Professor Zh.M. Medeubayeva, coordinator of the project “Jean Monnet Center of Excellence “EUROSOFT”, co-financed by the ERASMUS+ program, noted that she was particularly interested in the high level of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, highlighted by the guest, the contribution of Hungary to the development of cultural and educational ties in the context of the European Union's "soft power" in the countries of Central Asia, in particular, within the framework of the implementation of the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program.
