The Department of Online Learning held a seminar for teaching staff on the creation of an ENU MOOC for Coursera
The seminar is aimed at improving the skills of teachers in the field of developing massive open online courses (MOOCs) for placement on the Coursera international educational platform. The purpose of the seminar is to clarify the requirements for video materials to include them on an international platform.
The participants noted the importance of ENU's involvement in international educational platforms such as Coursera to increase the university's global visibility and attract international students.
Special attention at the seminar was paid to teachers of disciplines that have the potential for a global audience and contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the university. Creating online courses is the painstaking work of not only the teacher-developer of the course, but also the entire team of the online learning department, including professional shooting, cinematography and directing, editing and sound, accompanied by a designer and a methodologist.
Gulnaz Sagynadinkyzi, Head of the Department of Kazakh Literature, shared her experience in creating a practical course for Coursera. She answered numerous questions from participants regarding the technical and organizational aspects of online course creation.
After the discussion, the seminar participants visited the university's studio, where they were able to familiarize themselves with the process of recording MOOCs.
«We hope that this seminar will help increase the number of high-quality MOOCs from ENU on the Coursera platform, improve the qualifications of teaching staff in the field of online education and strengthen the university's position in the global educational space,» said Leila Sabitova, Director of the Online Learning Department and moderator of the seminar.
