ENU held a workshop "Artificial Intelligence and Ethics: Sustainable Future"

The workshop "Artificial Intelligence and Ethics: Sustainable Future" was held at the Eurasian National University. The workshop is organized by the ENU and the Muslim Council of Elders. The event was attended by deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of RK, representatives of “Kazakhtelecom” JSC, the Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Development Committee, the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence, IT experts from Kazakhstani and foreign universities and other experts in the field of artificial intelligence.
During the meeting, the participants raised questions about the ecosystem of artificial intelligence, the past, present and future of generative artificial intelligence, the generation of synthetic data, and the legal aspects of biometric data protection in the context of technology development.
Abylaikhan Ospanov, Chief Director of the Digital Business Division of “Kazakhtelecom” JSC, noted that Kazakhstan has taken a direction in the separate development of artificial intelligence.
"A bill on AI is being developed today. At the same time, there is a council for the development of artificial intelligence under the President of RK.
The first problem in the field of AI is infrastructure. Today, Kazakhstani telecom companies are working to ensure that Kazakhstan has the necessary structure for the introduction of its own artificial intelligence," the speaker stressed. He also touched upon the topic of the introduction of AI in the healthcare, education, and financial sectors.
Darkhan Myrzabayev, Deputy Chairman of the Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Development Committee, spoke about the artificial intelligence ecosystem.
"Our ministry has defined the development of AI in 3 directions. This is the development of the institutional environment, infrastructure and human capital.
Today, there are certain developments in terms of infrastructure. There are facilities both in the territory of RK and outside the country. We use the capacities on the territory of RK to train models using sensitive data.
We have a certain KPI – training 1 million people in the field of AI in 5 years. We plan to train qualified personnel not only to create AI solutions, but also to use artificial intelligence. 1 million people will cover different categories of the population: schoolchildren, students, civil servants, entrepreneurs, etc.," the speaker said.
Yerbol Absalyamov, Executive Director of the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence, made a presentation on the topic "The past (KAZ-LLM), the present (Oylan language vision model) and the future (multimodal sparse language model) of generative artificial intelligence in ISSAI."
Within the framework of the event, a memorandum was signed between ENU and the Muslim Council of Elders to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of education and science.
