
The staff of the Institute of Physical and Technical Sciences of the ENU participated in the discussion of the development of drones using artificial intelligence









A round table organized by “Kazakhstan Engineering R&D Center” LLP was held at the Park Inn by Radisson hotel in Astana. The event took place as part of the Science Decade and in accordance with the calendar plan for the implementation of scientific and technical projects.
The round table aimed to discuss the scientific and technical foundations for the development of innovative drone-industry products using advanced artificial intelligence technologies. Participants exchanged ideas on two key topics:
- Development of a comprehensive innovative product in the drone industry using artificial intelligence technologies;
- Design of a loitering munition (kamikaze drone) system and scientific justification of its technical parameters.
During the discussion, attention was paid to technical characteristics, potential applications, AI integration possibilities, as well as issues of safety and regulatory compliance.
The following representatives from the Institute took part in the round table:
- Erik Nurmoldin – Director of the Institute;
- Bakytzhan Urazbekov – Deputy Director for Science;
- Abdikul Ashurov – Head of the Department of Space Engineering and Technology;
- Kanat Sakhanov – Lecturer, Department of Space Engineering and Technology;
- Arman Syzdykov – Lecturer, Department of Space Engineering and Technology;
- Altanbek Zulkhazhav – Manager of the Digital Development Sector.
Participation in this round table contributed to the Institute’s involvement in nationally significant R&D and applied projects, strengthened cooperation with organizations of the defense-industrial complex, and promoted scientific initiatives in high-tech and digitalization spheres.
