As part of the Decade of Science, on April 3, 2025, a seminar "Introduction to neuropsychological rehabilitation" was held, conducted by Jose Maria Freiro Duro, an invited specialist from Spain.
Jose Maria Freire Duro is a unique specialist with a multifaceted work experience. Jose has extensive experience in clinical and crisis psychology in conflict zones such as Syria, Georgia, Yemen, South Sudan, Nigeria and Somalia. The lecturer shared with the students his many years of practical experience in the field of neuropsychological rehabilitation aimed at restoring lost cognitive functions, reducing the level of psycho-emotional stress, as well as forming strategies for coping with the consequences of trauma.
Equally significant is the specialist's contribution to the neuropsychological rehabilitation of patients with neurodegenerative diseases: he heads the Parkinson's Disease Service in Spain. The seminar reviewed modern scientific approaches to the assessment and restoration of cognitive functions, disorders of attention, memory, executive functions, as well as the emotional state of patients. Jose Freire spoke about a holistic approach to neurorehabilitation, the role of the patient's own activity in rehabilitation activities, and the inclusion of specialists, relatives and friends of the patient in the rehabilitation process.
