
20th International Scientific Conference “ǴYLYM JÁNE BІLІM – 2025”





























On April 11, 2025, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted the 20th International Scientific Conference “ǴYLYM JÁNE BІLІM – 2025,” dedicated to students, master’s, and PhD students.
As part of the conference, the work of Section 6.5 titled "Issues of Translation and Intercultural Communication" was organized by the Department of Translation Theory and Practice.
The section was formally opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Philology of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, poet and scholar Serikzat Maksutuly Duisengazy. A welcoming speech was delivered by the Vice Dean for Research, PhD Dr. G.S. Kasbayeva, who wished success to the students, master’s and PhD students in their research endeavors. Head of the Department of Translation Theory and Practice, PhD Dr. D.M. Akizhanova, emphasized the significance of young scholars’ research in the field of translation and intercultural communication, expressing support and encouragement to the participants of the conference.
The committee of Section 6.5 "Issues of Translation and Intercultural Communication" included:
Chairperson – Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor G.I. Kuldeyeva;
Committee Members – Candidate of Philology, Professor Zh.M. Konyratbayeva, Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor G.A. Muratova, PhD, Associate Professor M.Zh. Eskendirova;
Secretary – PhD, Lecturer V.V. Siryachenko.
The committee received 20 scientific papers submitted by young researchers. The section included participants from various institutions: L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Maqsut Narikbayev University (Astana), Toraighyrov University (Pavlodar), Alkey Margulan Pavlodar Pedagogical University (Pavlodar), and KILC College (Astana). The working languages of the section were Kazakh, Russian, and English.
During the session, young scholars presented their academic viewpoints and discussed pressing issues in the field of translation. The section was conducted in an engaging and productive format. Based on the results, winners and runners-up were identified, while other participants were awarded certificates of appreciation.
Conference Section Results:
1st Place:
Aruzhan Sundetova. Topic: Linguistic and Cognitive Characteristics of the Concept “Rain” and Its Interlingual Transmission (based on the novel A Farewell to Arms by E. Hemingway).
2nd Place:
- Aigerim Uteuliyeva. Topic: Lexical-semantic Types of Non-verbal Means and Their Translation.
- Kamila Nyghmetulla. Topic: Translation of Literary Style: Comparative Analysis of Artificial Intelligence, Machine, and Human Translation (based on the short story The Snows of Kilimanjaro by E. Hemingway).
3rd Place:
- Dinara Katrenova. Topic: Conceptual Analysis of Color Idioms in Kazakh and English Languages.
- Aruzhan Bektleuova. Topic: Language and Etiquette: National Features and Translation Principles.
- Alua Dulatova, Rufina Kadyrova. Topic: Similarities and Differences of Idioms and Proverbs in English and Kazakh Languages.
Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to the following participants:
- Kamal Seitkenov. Topic: Translation Peculiarities of Collocations in the Pragmatics of Literary Text.
- Aitolkyn Abdirakhman. Topic: Features of Rendering Realia in Audiovisual Translation.
- Diara Zheksembi. Topic: Achievements of Digital Technologies in Translation Practice.
