A specialized laboratory on energy conservation will be created at ENU with the support of JICA
This agreement was reached during a meeting with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and representatives of the Institute for the Development of Electric Power Industry and Energy Conservation (Kazakhenergoexpertiza) (EEDI), held at the L. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. The parties expressed their willingness to develop the technical base of ENU, including the purchase of modern equipment for a specialized laboratory for energy conservation with the support of JICA. The meeting was held within the framework of the project «Creation of a construction and technical engineering center for the provision of a full cycle of accredited services in the construction industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan».
The main topic of discussion was cooperation in the field of energy conservation, as well as the introduction of the ZEB (Net Zero Energy Building) and ZEH (Net Zero Energy House) concepts - buildings and houses with zero energy consumption. The participants reviewed modern approaches to the design of facilities using renewable energy sources, advanced architectural solutions and highly efficient engineering equipment.
Welcoming the participants of the meeting, Assel Dzheksembayeva, Director of the ENU Innovation development department, stressed the importance of international cooperation for the sustainable development of the scientific and educational environment, emphasizing the prospects for technology transfer, joint research and promotion of energy-efficient solutions in the market of Kazakhstan and the countries of the Central Asian region.
«Long-term cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Institute for Economic Research in the Field of Energy (EEDI) will make it possible to commercialize innovative solutions in the field of energy conservation implemented within the framework of scientific and applied projects at ENU,» commented A. Dzheksembayeva.
According to her, special attention is paid to the implementation of advanced approaches Net Zero Energy Building (ZEB) and Net Zero Energy House (ZEH), aimed at minimizing energy consumption of buildings and houses through the use of renewable energy sources.
Special emphasis was placed on the need to share experiences between ENU and international partners in order to form a highly qualified scientific talent pool capable of effectively adapting and scaling ZEB/ZEH technologies in Kazakhstan and beyond.
ENU continues to strengthen its position as the leading scientific and educational center in the region, open to international cooperation and ready to implement innovative solutions for the benefit of a sustainable future.
In turn, Acting Chairman of the Board of the Institute for the Development of Electric Power Industry and Energy Conservation (EEDI) Eldos Abakanov noted the importance of joint work with JICA in the context of the development of energy independence of Kazakhstan.
During the visit, the Japanese delegation visited the «ENU-Lab» Research and production center, where they got acquainted with the university's infrastructure in the field of applied scientific research.
The director of the center, Marat Konkanov, presented specialized laboratories: geotechnical, road, laboratories of building materials, non-destructive testing, and others. Special attention was paid to the potential of laboratory developments in reducing costs and improving the quality of construction projects, as well as environmental sustainability through the use of recycled materials.
At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their mutual interest in further cooperation, the development of scientific potential and the introduction of innovative solutions in construction and energy conservation.
As noted, the partnership with JICA opens up new horizons in the field of international knowledge exchange and technological progress.
