THE GREAT VICTORY IS OUR COMMON HISTORICAL MEMORY

On April 25, 2025, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of History of Kazakhstan Svetlana Ivanovna Kovalskaya took part in the International Round Table dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Her report was devoted to the analysis of the formation Foreign Historiography about the Great Patriotic War. The main emphasis was placed on the characteristics of the stages: Historiography 1941-1945; Specifics of the geopolitical situation and the development of historiography 1945-1980; Development of historiography from the mid-80s of the XX century to the present time.

The round table was attended by famous historians, including military history experts: Akhmetova Laila Seisembekovna, Professor at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University; Bugai Nikolai Fedorovich, Professor at the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Mendikulova Gulnara Malbagarovna, Professor at Satbayev University (KazNITU named after K.I. Satbayev); Satayeva Saule Amantayevna, deputy director of the Central State Archive of Cinema and Photo Documents of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Sorokin Yuri Alekseevich, Professor at the Omsk State Medical University and others.

The moderators of the round table were Professor Abdil'dina R.Zh., Deputy Director of the Kazakhstan branch of Moscow State University, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Ermekbai Zh.A., Professor of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines of the Kazakhstan branch of Moscow State University. A very interesting and highly professional conversation took place, dedicated to a variety of aspects of the history of the Great Patriotic War: from an analysis of the reasons for the temporary failures of the Red Army at the initial stage of the war to a description of the activities of the search party Memorial Zone "Hope" under the leadership of ENU Professor M.K. Kussainov.
