
Guest Lecture on Japan–Kazakhstan Cultural and Humanitarian Relations Held at ENU











The framework of the Ambassador Talks ENU initiative, a guest lecture was held at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University by Ms. Yoko Sekiguchi, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan and Head of the Department of Culture, Education, Information, and Public Relations.
The lecture, titled "Aspects of Cultural and Humanitarian Relations between Japan and Kazakhstan," was organized for the faculty and students of the Department of Oriental Studies. In his opening remarks, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations Mr. Miras Kosybayev emphasized the importance of cultural ties between the two nations. During the lecture, Ms. Sekiguchi highlighted key aspects of Japan–Kazakhstan cultural cooperation through examples from both classical and contemporary Japanese literature, underscoring the role of cultural exchange in the broader context of international relations. Delivered in Japanese, the lecture provided an invaluable opportunity for students to gain practical experience.
In the closing remarks of the meeting, Head of the Department of Oriental Studies Gulnara Birimkulova and Senior lecturer Gulshat Uteulieva thanked the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, Head of the Department of Culture, Education, Information and Public Relations, Ms. Yoko Sekiguchi.
Attendees asked questions in Japanese and engaged in open dialogue with the diplomat. Such events contribute to enhancing students’ professional competencies and offer deeper insight into the global cultural landscape.
