
Student activists made their suggestions for improving the ENU infrastructure





At the initiative of the Department of Infrastructure Development of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, a working meeting was held with active representatives of the student community. The event took place on April 29, 2025, and was dedicated to discussing the condition and development of the university's material and technical infrastructure, including classroom facilities, student dormitory living conditions, creation of coworking spaces, and enhancing the overall comfort of the learning environment.
Participants from the university administration included:
-Yermek Aliyev – Director of the Department of Infrastructure Development;
-Zhambyl Tlepov – Director of the Department of Social and Civic Development;
-Saniya Sarsekova – Deputy Director of Infrastructure Development for Economics and Supply;
-Erzhan Kuzenbaev – Deputy Director of Infrastructure Development - Chief Engineer;
-Pavel Knyazhev – Head of the Investment Attraction Division (invited for the discussion of prospective development initiatives).
The student body was represented by activists from various organizations: the Council of Group Leaders, the clubs International Law, Parasat, Image ENU, as well as student organizations such as Qamqor ENU, Zhastar Rukh, the student rights ombudsperson, and others.
Topics raised during the discussion included:
-shortage of chairs and classroom furniture (particularly in the CISI building);
-suggestions for brighter, more engaging interior design in the Faculty of Social Sciences;
-creation of coworking spaces across all academic buildings;
-modernization of assembly halls, installation of ventilation systems, hallway lighting, and repurposing of unused dressing rooms;
-efficient use of vacant spaces.
All suggestions voiced by students were carefully listened to and taken into consideration.
The representatives of the department expressed their gratitude for the students’ civic engagement, emphasizing the importance of such dialogue for the systematic improvement of infrastructure and for creating a more comfortable environment across the university.
Saniya Sarsekova, Deputy Director of the Department of Infrastructure Development, expressed her appreciation and stated:
«First and foremost, I want to thank all the students who took part in this meeting. We truly value your initiative, attention to detail, and genuine desire to make our university space more comfortable and modern. Your feedback and ideas help us identify the real needs of the student body. The Department of Infrastructure Development will continue its efforts to create a welcoming environment across classrooms, residence halls, and coworking areas. We are open to dialogue, ready to listen, and eager to collaborate on infrastructure improvement initiatives. Together, we can make ENU a more innovative, comfortable, and student-friendly place for learning and self-development».
Such meetings will be held regularly according to an approved schedule, forming a stable platform for communication between university administration and students. This ensures a faster and more effective response to student needs and supports the growth of student-led initiatives.
To facilitate direct feedback and gather suggestions, the Department of Infrastructure Development has launched an official Instagram account - @dri_enu2025. All students are welcome to send their comments, suggestions, and ideas related to infrastructure improvements through this platform.
