
Native and foreign scientists discussed issues and new paradigms of modern literary criticism at ENU
The Eurasian National University hosted an International Scientific and Practical Conference "Modern Literary Studies: Theoretical Issues and New Paradigms", dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the leading researcher, critic, writer, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Academician of NAS RK, winner of the State Prize Rymgali Nurgali. The event was attended by native and foreign scientists, representatives of the intelligentsia.
During the conference, Adviser to the President of RK, Academician of NAS RK, Honored Worker of RK Bauyrzhan Omarov read out the congratulatory address of the State Adviser of RK Yerlan Karin, Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of RK Amanzhol Altayev - Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of RK Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Committee on Language Policy of RK Yerbol Tleshov – of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of RK Sayasat Nurbek, Almas Myrzakhmetov – of the Minister of culture and information of Aida Balayeva.
Presentations were made by scientists from Moscow State Pedagogical University, St. Petersburg State University, Silesian University in Katowice and universities of Tatarstan.
Rector of The L.N. Gumilyov ENU Yerlan Sydykov wished success to the conference participants:
"This representative meeting dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Academician Rymgali Nurgali, who made a huge contribution to the development of our university, is a scientific platform that provides a unique opportunity to rethink the significance of the legacy of the scientist who made an invaluable contribution to national spirituality, as well as to identify modern literary trends.
Rymgali Nurgali is not just a scientist, but a deep connoisseur of literature and art, an Abai expert, one of the leading researchers of the legacy of the Alash movement, as well as one of the outstanding figures of Kazakh science during the years of independence," Rector said.
Professor Rakhimzhan Turysbek made an accent on R. Nurgali’s unique handwriting on the literary and scientific path:
“Academician R.Nurgali made a special contribution to Kazakh spirituality, including education and science. He conducted research in this direction, doing a lot of work. He started studying the topic of Alash at an early age. He went through the school of Professor B.Kenzhebayev. At an early age, he learnt the life, social and creative path of Alash figures. He deeply studied the Alash movement, the Alash party, the Alash government, and their idea of creating a state.
He has also written works on such topics as “Arkau”, “Kuretamyr”, “Telagys”, “Syrly Soz”, “Drama Oneri”, “Soz Onerinin Estetikasy”, “Alash Urandy Adebiyet”, “M. Auezov zhane Alash”, “Kazakh Adebiyetinin altyn gasyry”, Rakhimzhan Turysbek said.
During the conference, representatives of Universities of Russia, Turkey and Kazakhstan were presented: Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Rezeda Mukhamedshina (Russia), Doctor of Philological Sciences Myrzatai Zholdasbekov, writers and and poets Altynshash Zhaganova, Bayangali Alimzhanov, Otegen Oralbayev, Oten Akhmet, Tursynbek Baimoldayev, Ualikhan Kalizhan.
During the event, topical issues of literary criticism were discussed. The participants voiced proposals on the study of scientific works of the scientist, on naming streets of Astana and schools after R.Nurgali, as well as naming the Department of Kazakh Literature of the ENU after Rymgali Nurgali.
In addition, the participants of the conference could watch a documentary about Rymgali Nurgali’s life and work. The scientists also laid flowers at the memorial plaque located on the house where R.Nurgali lived.
The international event continued during breakout sessions on the topics “Kazakh Literary Studies and Rymgali Nurgali’s legacy”, “Theoretical Issues of Literary Studies and New Judgments about Rymgali Nurgali’s Legacy” “Interdisciplinary Research in the Humanities”.
Other R. Nurgali’s books were also presented: «Talant Tagdyry”, “Kuretamyr”, “Kazakh dramaturgiyasy”, “Onerdyn Estetikalyk nysanasty”.
