The project of the professor of the Department of Kazakh Linguistics of the ENU on the development of the academic Kazakh language was presented in the Netherlands

The framework of project AP23488585 “Digital Humanities: Building a Corpus of Academic Kazakh Language” the project leader, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Kazakh Linguistics Gulnar Sarseke, was on a business trip to Radboud University in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This visit was made possible through an international grant from the European national consortium CLARIN ERIC, which provides access to 22 academic corpora in various languages.

During the visit, Dr. Gulnar Sarseke met with Dr. Henk van den Heuvel, Head of the Humanities Lab at Radboud University. Dr. van den Heuvel is a recognized expert in the development of linguistic and speech databases, speech transcription (both orthographic and phonetic), automatic speech recognition, and language acquisition.

At the meeting, Dr. Sarseke presented the research project “Digital Humanities: Building a Corpus of Academic Kazakh Language”. Distinguished scholars Dr. Henk van den Heuvel, Dr. Nelleke J. Oostdijk, Dr. Erwin R. Komen, Dr. Dieter Van Uytvanck, and Dr. Eric P. Sanders shared their expertise on creating word lists for corpora, building resource groups for academic texts, copyright issues, and other key aspects of corpus development. In addition, the participants discussed the upcoming phases of work on the Kazakh academic language corpus and the expected outcomes of the project.
