
ENU now has a lecture room named after the famous figure Sherkhan Murtaza















The opening ceremony of the lecture room named after Sherkhan Murtaza, a statesman and public figure, an outstanding representative of Kazakh literature and the press, and a national writer of Kazakhstan, took place at the Faculty of Journalism and Social Sciences of the Eurasian National University.
The main purpose of the event is to pass on to the younger generation the spiritual and professional legacy of Sherkhan Murtaza, to pay tribute to his contribution to the development of Russian journalism and literature. The auditorium is a training ground and a symbolic space where professionals who guard the national word and the interests of society are educated.
The opening ceremony was attended by deputies of the Senate and Mazhilis of the Parliament of RK, government and public figures, veterans of Kazakh journalism, as well as famous writers, poets and media representatives. Scientists and professors from leading foreign partner universities were also invited to the opening ceremony of the Sherkhan Murtaza lecture room.
"The opening of the lecture room named after the famous public figure Sherkhan Murtaza at the Eurasian National University is not just an event related only to our university, but also a significant event that can become an example for the whole society. The audience opens with the intention that qualified journalists, educated and patriotic citizens can honor the spirit of Sherkhan Murtaza and be inspired by his personality," Yerlan Sydykov, Rector of the Gumilyov ENU said.
It should be noted that during the event, speeches were made by Deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of RK Altynbek Nukhuly, deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of RK Kazybek Isa, Director of “Kazakh Gazetteri” LLP Dikhan Kamzabekuly, Chairman of the Management Board of the “Khabar” Agency Kemelbek Bakhtykululy, director of “Abai TV” Yerkin Mukhamedzhanov, public figures Ualikhan Kalizhan, Zharylkap Beisenbaiuly, Darkhan Mynbai and others.
"Sherkhan Murtaza is for us a guiding star, a landmark, a light on the path of life. Whether it's his social activities, writing, or journalistic skills, you know his life path well. Let the books, articles, speeches in Parliament written by him become a source of inspiration, a lesson in life for young Kazakh journalists who strive to write and speak in the spirit of Sherkhan Murtaza. May there be more and more such generations," Senator Altynbek Nukhuly said.
Dikhan Kamzabekuly, Director of “Kazakh Gazetter” LLP, noted that the opening of the auditorium in honor of the outstanding writer, journalist and unique public figure Sherkhan Murtaza is a matter of national importance and a manifestation of professional foresight.
"Indeed, in the difficult and responsible 60-90s, Sheraga headed such publications as Leninshil Zhas, Zhalyn, Zhuldyz, Kazak Adebiyeti, Yegemen Kazakhstan, and was also the editor-in-chief of a writer's publishing house. This is a vivid example of a high-level creative workshop.
The multi-volume novels, plays, short stories, novellas, and translations of Sherkhan Murtaza are a whole school. The classic Sherkhan Murtaza has become a model in the education of journalists. I am sure that this example will become a guiding light for the Journalism specialty of the Eurasian National University,". Dikhan Kamzabekuly said
The Sherkhan Murtaza lecture room is equipped with modern technical equipment and will be used as an educational and research platform for future journalists. There are documentary expositions, quotations, photo and video materials, archival sources dedicated to the writer's life and work.
Sherkhan Murtaza is an outstanding personality who defended the interests of the nation, justice and the power of speech in Kazakh journalism and literature. He headed such publications as "Leninshil Zhas" ("Zhas Alash"), "Socialist Kazakhstan" ("Egemen Kazakhstan"), "Kazakh adebieti", the magazine "Zhalyn", and also honorably served as chairman of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He was a statesman who combined a civic position and high social responsibility. Sherkhan Murtaza was also a deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the second convocation.
