
Dr. Zhazira Yessenkeldikyzy Abdykhalykova, Ph.D. in Psychology and faculty member of the Department of Psychology, successfully completed a one-year research internship at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., USA, during the 2024–2025 academic year as part of the “500 Scholars” initiative of the “Bolashak” scholarship program.

Within the framework of the academic research internship, the following courses organized by professors of The George Washington University were successfully completed:
• Advanced Academic Writing
• Qualitative Methods in Research
• Quantitative Methods in Research
• Course Design and Evaluation of Educational Program
In addition, certificates were obtained through the CITI Program organized by the Office of Human Research at The George Washington University for the following courses:
1. Human Research: Biomedical Investigators
2. Responsible Conduct of Research: Social and Behavioral
3. Human Research: Social & Behavioral Research
4. Research Study Design (RSD)
5. Responsible Conduct of Research: Humanities Course 1
As part of her scientific and professional development, Dr. Abdykhalykova actively participated in lectures and seminars delivered by leading professors of The George Washington University, as well as in international academic events held at top research institutions and universities including The Brookings Institution, Harvard University, American University, Georgetown University, George Mason University, and the University of Southern California.
During the internship, she also demonstrated strong research publication activity.
She became a member of the psychological research lab at the Department of Cognitive Psychology at The George Washington University and regularly attended weekly scientific meetings with faculty members and doctoral students. These meetings focused on discussions of various research projects and contemporary psychological studies.
Two articles were published in international peer-reviewed journals with impact factors:
1. Blended Learning in the Development of University Students’ Metacognition (IJERE)
2. Enhancing Student Teachers’ Motivation for Job Retention Through a Practice-Based Learning Strategy (EDUPIJ)
