In five years, the Abai ENU Academy has published 90 scientific and educational books

In 2019, the Abai Academy Research Institute was founded at The L. N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University in order to study and popularize the legacy of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Kunanbayev. The Scientific Research Institute "Academy of Abai" conducts scientific research, publishes papers, organizes conferences and other events aimed at studying and understanding Abai's work.

The scientific direction of the Academy is the study, research, promotion and popularization of the heritage of Abai in continuity with the spiritual, cultural and intellectual development of the new Kazakhstan. The Abai Academy is working to revive creative contacts with the centers of Abai studies in the country and systematize joint work. In the future, we will coordinate work with Abai studies centers abroad.

The scientific director of the Abai Academy project is Academician, Rector of ENU Yerlan Sydykov, the director of the Abai Academy Research Institute,  Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Zhandos Aubakir.

The Research Institute specializes in research in the field of humanities and culture related to the legacy of Abai Kunanbayev. The specificity and scale of the extensive work currently being carried out in the field of Abai studies is evidenced by the fact that by now, that is, for more than 5 years, the Abai Academy has developed and published 90 scientific and educational books in special series.

In 2020, in honor of the 175th anniversary of Abai Kunanbaiuly, 23 scientific publications developed as part of special projects were presented at the Abai Academy with direct funding from The L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. These publications were named the special series "Academy of Abai".

In 2021, in order to promote the legacy of Abai, the Academy, commissioned by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, implemented two comprehensive projects: "The Legacy of Abai Kunanbaiuly in the Aspect of Social Sciences and Humanities" and "Modern Kazakhstan and Abai Kunanbaiuly."

In the same year, 24 scientific and educational books were developed in special series: "The Historical and Ethnographic Context of Abai's Creative Heritage", "The Language of Abai and Current Problems of Kazakh Linguistics", "The Economic Views of Abai and the Economic Structure of the Kazakh People", "The Heritage of Abai and the Civilizational Foundations of the Turkic World".

In 2022, the Academy implemented the project "Modern Kazakhstan and Abai Kunanbaiuly and His Legacy in the Field of Social Sciences and Humanities." The aim of the project is to continue conducting social and analytical research on the importance of Abai's legacy in shaping an intelligent and competitive nation.

In 2023, the Academy developed and published 12 scientific and educational books in special series, in 2024 - 6 scientific and educational books written by famous scientists, researchers and young scientists.

The authors of the works published in a special series over the past 5 years are such well-known Abai scholars and researchers as Ye. Sydykov, J. Dadebayev, S. Ibrayev, D. Iskakuly, S. Negimov, T. Zhurtbai, T. Shapai, K. Madibayeva, S. Ananyeva, J. Aimukhambet, A. Kemelbai, J. Aubakir, K. Toreali, G. Muratova, A. Dogalov, Y. Paltore, B. Korganbekov, M. Alpysbes, K. Bibekov, E. Tileshov, S. Korabai, A. Kenshilikuly, K. Battalov, A. Kaishatayeva, A. Smagulova, K. Kemenger, S. Zhumagul, U. Umitkaliyev, G. Kurmangaliyeva, A. Askarova, A. Kaliyeva, B. Arykbayev, L. Demesinova.

In addition, the staff of the research institute, having analyzed the creative legacy of Abai Kunanbaiuly, prepared the content of the scientific and educational complex "Tolyk Adam" using modern multimedia technologies in connection with the development of society in the era of globalization.

According to the results of the research, the scientific and educational complex "Tolyk Adam" is functioning around the clock; an audio library of the poet's aphorisms; a video library of Abai's works on the topic "Tolyk Adam"; a collection of scientific and educational articles on the topic "Tolyk Adam"; a collection of wise sayings of the poet; a collection of wise words of outstanding Abai scholars, a series of academic video lectures has been developed; An online library on the creative heritage of Abai Kunanbaiuly has been created.

Based on the main criteria of the socio-cognitive case method, a socio-cognitive case based on the poet's works was developed in order to popularize the legacy of the spiritual reformer and the great poet as a brand of Kazakhstan in the XXI century, where the ideals and interests of Abai Kunanbaiuly's work are consonant with the current problems of modern society, which had a great impact on the modernization of Abai's national consciousness.

Such innovative research will allow us to promote Abai's creative legacy as the basis of the national heritage of modern Kazakhstan, the cultural capital of a conscious, intellectual nation, and the poet's wise words as the golden foundation of the Kazakh people, an eternal spiritual pillar that unites generations seeking their roots and national identity.

Scientists and staff of the Academy visit educational institutions of various levels of our country, hold meetings and give lectures. The goal is to popularize the heritage of Abai among the younger generation.

In order to develop international relations, the Abai Academy signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Kazakh Language and Literature Department, Azhiniyaz Nukus State Pedagogical Institute (Uzbekistan), as well as the Abai Kunanbaiuly Kazakh Language and Literature Center, Kazan University (Tatarstan).

Today, one of the most important and urgent tasks is to popularize the heritage of Abai as the cultural capital of the nation. In this regard, about 50 articles have been published in foreign and national scientific journals and periodicals on the topic "Abai is a personality of world culture." From 2022 to 2025, 3 articles were published in peer-reviewed scientific publications included in the first three quartiles (Q1, Q2, Q3) of the Web of Science database and having a CiteScore index of at least 50 in the Scopus database. In 2025, a large-scale expert work on Abai studies is being prepared, which will analyze the achievements and specific results achieved in the field of Abai studies to date.

Joint events will be organized with Abai centers in the country and abroad. This year, contacts with ABAI UII cultural and business houses around the world will be intensified.

The book-album "Abai Danalygy", containing a selection of deep thoughts and philosophical insights in the words of the edification of the great Abai, as well as illustrations by famous artists of our country related to Abai and Kazakh society, will now be published not only in Kazakh, but also in Turkish, Russian and English. The presentation of this album will take place not only in the country, but also in other countries.

The Abai Academy, together with the ABAI TV channel, has prepared a special project on historical sites associated with Abai, and also began to acquaint Kazakhstanis with lectures by scientists studying the legacy of Hakim in scientific and educational works published in the "Abai Academy" series.

It is planned to hold an international conference "Adamzattyn Abaiy".

A symposium, round tables, and participation in various events dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Abai Kunanbaiuly will be organized.
