
ENU professors presented reports at the Congress of Slavists in Paris













ENU professors as part of the Kazakhstan National Committee of Slavists took part in the XVII International (Extraordinary) The Congress of Slavists, held at the Sorbonne University in Paris (France).
It was attended by 850 specialists in Slavic languages from 43 countries around the world. The organizing committee was headed by Natalia Bernitskaya from Sorbonne University, the current president of the International Committee of Slavists. The congress is held once every five years. The issues discussed at the congress reflected a wide range of interests of contemporary scholars, from the history and theory of Slavic languages and cultures, cultural dialogue, and language policy to East-West relations, deconstruction, decanonization, and the reconstruction of the history of national literatures.
The participants of the congress are selected by the chairpersons of the national committees of Slavists. The Kazakh National Committee is headed by the Honorary President of the Kazakh Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature, a prominent scientist, head of the sociolinguistic school of Kazakhstan, professor, Doctor of Philology E.Suleimenova (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University). The delegation from Kazakhstan was represented by scholars from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University: Professor, Doctor of Philology N.. Shaimerdenova ‒ scientific supervisor and consultant to many scholars in Kazakhstan, including L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University; Associate Professor, PhD, President of the Kazakhstan Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University M. Aimagambetova; and Associate Professor at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Doctor of Philology K. Urazayeva№
Kazakh scientists presented reports that attracted the interest of participants: “Language processes and language policy in modern Kazakhstan” (E. Suleimenova), "Glosses in monuments of writing from the 11th to 17th centuries as an indicator of language interaction“ (N. Shaimerdenova), ”Transformed phraseological units in the headlines of Russian-language newspapers in Kazakhstan" (M. Aimagambetova). The report by K. Urazaeva was devoted to issues of restructuring the concept of 19th-century Russian literature.
The congress served as a broad, open platform for discussing controversial issues related to the development of the languages and cultures of the world's peoples from the perspective of mutual influence, interaction, and their role in the modern world, in the context of globalization and challenges.
