The key topic of discussion was the actualization and development of cooperation in the academic and educational spheres. The parties discussed the possibilities of expanding academic mobility programs, inviting Korean specialists to teach at ENU, as well as holding joint events and conducting research.
ENU maintains strong partnerships with universities of the Republic of Korea. To date, the university has signed 20 cooperation agreements with leading educational and scientific institutions of Korea, including Yonsei University, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Korea University, Sejong University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and others.
Since 2022, as part of international cooperation, ENU has hosted specialists from Dankook University and the International Mind Education Institute (IMEI), as well as engaged academic consultants for doctoral students from a number of leading Korean universities and research institutes. In addition, 64 ENU students have studied in the Republic of Korea, while ENU has welcomed 14 students from Korea since 2022.
Special attention in cooperation is given to Korean language teaching. Since 2023, the Department of Oriental Studies at ENU has been working with the Education Center at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the area of Korean language teaching by native speakers. In the current academic year, instruction is being provided by Lee Ha-yeon, dispatched under a bilateral agreement. Within the framework of the program, more than 55 students of the Faculty of International Relations study Korean, while the total number of students learning it as a second foreign language exceeds 70.
A significant stage in the development of cooperation was the signing of a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding on April 26, 2025, between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Office of Education of Gyeonggi Province of the Republic of Korea, and ENU. The document provides for the implementation of an overseas internship program for South Korean high school students. In July 2025, the university hosted a group of 8 students within this initiative for the first time.
The visit of the delegation of the Education Center at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea confirmed the high level of bilateral cooperation and gave impetus to new initiatives in the educational and scientific fields.
