
International Cooperation: A New DAAD Lecturer Joins the Department of Foreign Philology

The Department of Foreign Philology at the Faculty of Philology of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University is launching a new international cooperation initiative supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) within the educational program “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages (German)”.
DAAD assigns lecturers to universities around the world upon request, where they teach German language, literature, and cultural studies. Candidates for the lectureship positions are selected by an independent commission composed of representatives from German universities. The selection process considers both professional qualifications and regional educational needs.
According to an official letter dated March 10, 2025, from Dr. Heiko Schmidt, Head of the DAAD Scholarship Programs Department for Northern and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus, lecturer Ms. Katrin Kristina Kompe has agreed to take up a two-year position at the Department of Foreign Philology, Faculty of Philology, at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University starting from September 1, 2025.
Ms. Katrin Kristina Kompe was warmly welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Mr. S. Duisengazy, and the Head of the Department, Mr. D.Kh. Baidrakhmanov. She was introduced to the university, the academic environment, and the faculty team. Traditional Kazakh hospitality was extended to the guest, along with best wishes for her upcoming lectures and academic endeavors.
Within this initiative, Katrin Kristina Kompe will not only provide instruction in the German language and culture but also contribute to strengthening educational and cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Germany.
