“Transformation of Kazakhstani Practices of Academic Supervision in the Context of International Trends”

On September 30, 2025, a round table on the topic “Transformation of Kazakhstani Practices of Academic Supervision in the Context of International Trends” was held. The event became a platform for open dialogue between academic supervisors and doctoral students.
The speaker of the round table was Professor Veronika Adolfovna Razumovskaya from Siberian Federal University — an expert in academic writing, as well as in intercultural and interdisciplinary aspects of communication in science.
In her presentation, Professor Razumovskaya shared her experience in organizing doctoral supervision, discussed the challenges faced by modern academic supervisors, and suggested possible ways to overcome them.
Special attention was given to issues of sustainable doctoral motivation, emotional and professional burnout of academic supervisors, the balance between the requirements of publication activity and the qualitative guidance of PhD research, and the role of the academic supervisor as a mentor rather than merely a controller.
During the discussion, participants of the round table shared practical observations, described typical difficulties, and proposed solutions adapted to the Kazakhstani academic context.
P.S.: The event was organized within the framework of the research project AP19674794 “Academic Supervision in Modern Doctoral Studies: Transformation of Kazakhstani Practices in the Context of International Trends.”
