A well-known entrepreneur bestowed 30 grants upon ENU students
Yerzhan Tastambekov, a well-known entrepreneur, a graduate of The L. N. Gumilyov ENU, the founder and owner of the Zebra Goffee coffee chain, presented 30 students of the Eurasian National University with annual study grants in honor of the university’s 30th anniversary.
The selection of the fellows was carried out by a commission headed by Yerzhan Tastambekov, which paid attention to the social status, academic performance and the number of UNT scores of applicants for the grant.
ENU Vice Rector for Strategic Development and Internationalization Duman Aitmagambetov noted that the successful businessman has been supporting the universityэs youth for three years in a row, providing them with the opportunity for learning and development.
"This year, the winners of the grants were students of various faculties, from humanities to technical fields, 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students.
In recent years, work with ENU graduates has noticeably increased. In 2022, on their initiative, the ENU Endowment Fund was created, and in a short period of time, more than 50 students received scholarships and grants. This step is a vivid example of how university graduates contribute to the development of future generations by supporting talented youth and strengthening traditions of continuity. We hope that Yerzhan Tastambekov’s example will become an inspiration for other ENU graduates," Vice Rector emphasized.
It is worth noting that earlier, an ENU graduate awarded six grants for student education in 2023 and six more in 2024.
"As a business, we have a certain responsibility for the younger generation. Scores do not always reflect the mind of a person who is growing up. Sometimes missing points prevent an applicant from applying for a grant, and not everyone can pay for tuition. I've been in a similar situation too. Based on my experience, I understand how important it is to support students," the businessman shared.
Ayaulym Zhussupbek is studying the basics of journalism in her first year at the L. N. Gumilyov ENU. The girl spoke about her experiences related to rare luck:
"I was surprised and touched when I received the news that I had received a grant to study. Thanks to this opportunity, I have even more motivation to study. In addition, with high academic performance, I will have a chance to extend the validity of this grant. I thank Yerzhan Tastambekov and my university for such support to young people. It is very necessary and valuable for us," the girl emphasized.
Raikhan Akhmetova, a second-year student at the Faculty of Journalism and Social Sciences:
"I felt sincere gratitude and happiness after receiving the good news. This means that there will be less burden on my education for my family. I am very pleased that the business pays attention to students."
As a sign of gratitude and recognition for his contribution to the development of his alma mater, Vice-Rector Duman Aitmagambetov presented entrepreneur Yerzhan Tastambekov with the ENU ring, which is awarded to outstanding graduates of the university.
